Bills' Alonso tweaks knee, questionable for Sunday

Orchard Park, NY (WGR 550)  -- Through 13 games, rookie linebacker Kiko Alonso has taken every single defensive snap and has been in charge of the defense on Sundays. That streak of 941 consecutive snaps taken could be in jeopardy on Sunday.

Alonso was a limited participant on both Wednesday and Thursday, and then suffered a setback on Friday according to head coach Doug Marrone. The knee injury is bothering the rookie, but the coach remained upbeat.

"He tweaked it," Marrone said. "Obviously we list it like we are, but talking to him in his mind, he wants to play. I think we've got 48 hours, then we'll see how it goes."

That official listing is 'questionable,' meaning he is considered a 50-50 chance to play.

The same goes for normal starting right guard Kraig Urbik who injured his foot during the Week 14 contest in Tampa Bay. He sat out of practice on both Wednesday and Thursday, but got on to the field Friday in a limited capacity.

His questionable tag will make him a game-time decision as well, but Marrone praised Urbik and said there is a possibility.

"I know this about Kraig: he's done everything he possibly can," the coach remarked. "If it's even close that he can go, he'll go. He's a tough kid."

Rounding out the injury report for the Bills is cornerback Brandon Smith (ankle), defensive lineman Kyle Williams (Achilles) and safety Jonathan Meeks (ankle). Smith has been ruled out for the Jacksonville contest, while both Williams and Meeks are probable to play.

The Bills and Jaguars square off on Sunday at 1 pm.
