Ruff Returns, Moulson Arrives in Buffalo

Buffalo, NY (WBEN) There will be two big storylines as the Sabres take on the Dallas Stars. A former coach returns on the visiting side, and the man acquired in a trade for Thomas Vanek plays his first game for the blue and gold.

Lindy Ruff is behind Dallas' bench, returning to First Niagara Center after being fired by the Sabres in February. "It's just strange, coming in and going to the other side," says Ruff. He understands why he was let go. "At that time, we could've been .500 or a game or two better and we let a couple of games get away. Those types of games hurt you, and that sits in my mind, that were weren't good enough or getting the job done."

As for the current Sabres team, "I understand what's happening," says Ruff. "There are a lot of changes, through those changes, some of the younger guys are playing really good hockey. I think there's a real bright future there seeing them play."

Matt Moulson became a Sabre Sunday, traded by the New York Islanders for Thomas Vanek and two draft picks. "I don't personally worry about the team. No matter where I'm going, I play the same way, it's the family aspects I worry about," says Moulson. He says playing with a young team is exciting.

Moulson says he likes Buffalo, growing up in Southern Ontario. "It's close to home. It's a great building, the Sabres dressing room is a bit nicer than the visiting team's," quips Moulson. He says tonight's a big game, and he's excited himself.
