Bandits beat Knighthawks to take first in East
The Buffalo Bandits defeated the Rochester Knighthawks 11-10 on Saturday night to give the defending NLL champions their first loss of the season and give Buffalo first place in the NLL East division.
The Bandits played one of their best games in years for the first 56 minutes, but nearly gave it away in the closing moments. They had an 11-5 lead until the final four minutes of regulation when Rochester scored five-straight goals to pull within one. That forced Buffalo to cling to the lead for the final 19 seconds to perserve the win. The Knighthawks outscored Buffalo 7-1 in the fourth
Before that point the Bandits dominated the game at both ends of the floor. The defense and goalie Anthiny Cosmo stymied the high powered Rochester offense. Cosmo finished the game with 46 saves on 56 shots as he looked the best as he's ever been in a Bandit uniform.
John Tavares led the Bandits with four goals as he returned to the lineup after missing last week's game in Colorado. Ryan Benesch was held to no goals for the first time as a Bandit but still led the team with six assists. Hamburg-native, Joe Resetarits, recorded his first career hat trick.
Buffalo chased Rochester starting goalie and Canisius product, Matt Vinc, after three quarters. Vinc gave up 10 goals on 35 shots, including four third quarter goals on just eight shots.
The win was the Bandits' fourth-straight after losing their season opener. They are home again next Saturday to host Toronto.

thats why i love our teams here. You can tell the bandits are playing like they got chip on both of their shoulders. Why because they see the bills didn't make the playoffs. They know the sabres are not going to make it. So what they say to themself. hey the hell with this one of our team got to go back to the playoffs. Why are fans need us to be. And we show do. with all the down faces. need that feeling of being back on top and winning it all. Congrats! on the 1st place standings and keep it going. Well bison in a minute you will be up nexts. show us what you got. ruff buff.
Bandits showing shades of Vulcan Throwbargains in the fourth quarter, but pulled it out. Poor attendance imo. Buffalo can do better there!
Who coached that 4th period sitting back?
BEST TICKET IN TOWN
U cannot ask for a better ticket in town as the Bandits atmosphere is fantastic. They are playing great as they really dominated the Knighthawks last night, unfortunately they lost focus for the last 4 minutes which made the game closer than what it should have been. However they won and are now in first place! Learn from the game that you need to play 60 full minutes no matter the score. Congrats guys as you are making going to the arena fun!

This team has gone downhill ever since he took charge - fire the bum... had no experience to justify taking on a roll like this... all about who you know in the organization i guess...drinking at cobblestone isn't more important than winning
See thats what we need.
I agree the bandits really are making it fun to go back to the arena. We haven't heard lets go buffalo lets go. Now thats fun. And to be in first place in the league; make it even better. Giving us the fans something to shout about. And wgr need tobe talking more about the bandits. instead of about the sabres. Because we are all waiting for this season to end.
