The Seattle Seahawks won their first World Championship Sunday night, trouncing the Denver Broncos 43-8 in Super Bowl XLVIII.
Opting to receive after Seattle chose to defer, Denver fumbled on the first play from scrimmage as it appeared Center Manny Ramirez and Manning had some sort of communication issue. The football rolled into the end zone for a safety, and the Broncos found themselves down two to nothing just 12 seconds into the game. For the Seahawks, Steven Hauschka was able to connect on two field goals in the opening frame, and Defensive Back Kam Chancellor intercepted Manning with about a minute left in the first to make it an eight to nothing Seattle lead heading into the second quarter.
After two possessions in Denver’s red zone and only mustering six points, Former Buffalo Bill Marshawn Lynch ran in a one-yard score to give the Seahawks a two-possession lead three minutes into the second. Manning’s struggles continued in the first half as he threw another interception, this one to Malcom Smith who returned it 69 yards for a touchdown.
The second half was just as forgetful as the first for the Broncos. Percy Harvin ran back the second half opening kickoff for a touchdown, and Denver turned the ball over for the third time to set up Seattle with another score, this one coming by way of a 23-yard catch and run by Jermaine Kearse. The Broncos finally got on the board by way of a Demaryius Thomas touchdown reception at the end of the third, making it 36-8.
Seattle continued to pile on the points in the final frame, Russell Wilson threw his second touchdown of the game inside the 12 minute mark of the fourth quarter. With about 4 minutes left, Denver turned the ball over one more time, and 43-8 would be the final score in Super Bowl XLVIII.
The 35-point win is the largest margin of victory in a Super Bowl since 1993 (Dallas and Buffalo, 52-17). The two teams will meet in the regular season in 2014, although no date has been given yet.

Great young talent. Even with free agency they will win the Superbowl again next year. Feel bad especially for the 49er and Packer fans because this team will clobber you for awhile.
Turns Out, Nobody In My House Cared
Since the party was at my house and I was doing the cooking, I looked online for the start time of the game so I could have the food ready at kickoff. The fox website said the game starts at 5:30. I sort of panicked while cooking thinking my food would not be ready in time. Turns out the fox website lied and the game did not start until 6:30. By the time the score was 5-0 seattle, I was already sick of the fox broadcast and all the commercials, so I went to the kitchen to do the dishes. By the end of the first quarter all 7 of the adults were in the kitchen, with only one adult asking the kids watching the game what the score was. By the end of the second quarter 5 of the 6 children were in the kitchen. By the beginning of the 3rd quarter everyone was in the kitchen and nobody cared what the score was. There were multiple cakes, pies and cookies to eat, adult beverages for the adults, several flavored milkshakes for the kids and designated drivers. Card games and board games were going full tilt on the kitchen table with everyone having fun. The game was over for hours before any of us even realized it. It was a great day and evening with friends and the "super bowl" had no part in it. We all felt duped for buying into the two weeks of super hype for the super bowl when it turns out none of us even cared about the actual game.
the game was fixed! both teams looked like garbage trying to act like it was real.
Another team wins their first
yeah, I just made it all about me.
This had to be the worst SB I ever watched.Boring!!!I'm not a Denver fan and hate Seahawks, but wanted to watch the BIG GAME.BIG MISTAKE!Next year I'll do something else.
Take note Maroone Pete Carroll is not much more than a cheer leader and he should have some pom-poms as he runs up and down the sidelines. The Seahawks didn't win because of his strict rules or his football schemes in fact his only contribution was likely getting his team to play together and treating each player differently depending on their personal persona. One thing Seattle didn't do is get rid of talented players because they didn't fit what the coach thinks is professional or because they weren't "team" players. The head coach does not make plays he only motivates players and each is an individual.
The wrost super bowl every!
Its like i said somebody was going to get blown out. But i would of never thought it would be denver. Not the great payton manning. I guess the seahawks must of got tired of those manning brothers in the superbowl. I want lie i was going for denver. and lost $20 dollars on the game. I turn that mess off in the 2nd quater. So congrats go out to the seahawks lynch and man who was trash talking. Why beause he back up his words.
re: Turns Out, Nobody In My House Cared
You all should just stick to tennis and hockey, and leave football to the real NFL fans, now get off the keyboard and go do the wife's dishes, gumby...
LAGARRETTE BLOUNT SAYS.....!
SAYS: "Sure am glad that HAWKING DEE-FENSE AIN'T ANYWHERE IN MY DIVISION!!!! THAT GOD FOR "MY" BUFFALO BEELLS!!!!!! "I LOVE RUSS BRANDONE, BRO!!!"
MOVE OVER MARV LEVY!!!
John Fox put on the absolute worst big game coaching display in NFL history!!! Making it most HORRIFIC was the fact that he had a supposedly "great" Peyton Manning. Levy was firmly entrenched as THE WORST alltime big game coach because he had Jim Kelly and Thurman Thomas and Bruce Smith. Now some smart guys out there could say Raymond Berry of the 85 Patriots, but the Pats should have never made the Super Bowl anyway! I mean... TONY EASON!!!! GULP!
Congratulations to THE MANNEQUIN COACH, JOHN FOX!!! WHAT A DISASTER. Marv should be thankful!
Seahawks/NFC a problem for Bills/AFC...
This game was a physical mismatch -- Seattle secondary best I've seen, but still prefer Bears '85 linemen/backers and Pitt 70's Steel Curtain front four). For fans to lay it all on Manning is foolish -- Joe Montana & 49ers lost a title game to the Giants 49-3, Elway & his early Broncos were also trounced (before the later version got a real defense).
There were probably three NFC teams besides Seattle could have won the Super Bowl: 49ers & Panthers for sure, maybe Saints. If the Bills actually want to win the Lombardi trophy, just getting by the Broncos or Pats etc. in a weak AFC won't be nearly enough. In the NFC right now -- it's cyclical -- they take defense to a higher level. And they have the best young QB's.
RE: re: Turns Out, Nobody In My House Cared
Such a short comment, yet your stupidity is on full display. Since you make reference to "the wife", I guess you are assuming the comment was written by a man. Exhibit number 1 that you are dumb. You think people can't be "real" nfl fans because they point out how boring a game was. Exhibit number 2 that you are dumb. And the ultimate proof you are really dumb is exhibit number 3, the name calling with the "gumby" reference. When you can't debate, go to the name calling. Now go back to impressing your mommy and baby sister with your intelligent quips.
