Unsapped Potential

Buffalo Business Report - Monday, March 3rd 2014

The twenty-seven cent gap remains between the local and national gas prices.  Over the weekend, the AAA notes the national price rose to $3.46 for a gallon of unleaded, while the local price bumped up to $3.73.

Business First reports Federal Express has expressed interest in building a massive distribution center in the town of Hamburg.  A potential site for the project could be on 50 acres of land near Route 5 and Bayview Road.  If a deal is struck, the new center would employ 600 people.

Locally owned video game retailer Oogie Games has opened a 6th location in the area.  The newest store is at 2404 Military Road, just north of the Factory Outlet Mall.

The last two weekends of March are set aside to focus on the state's maple producers, but Mother Nature has been less than cooperative.  The best temperature range to get the sap flowing is daytime temperatures in the low 40s and nighttime lows in the 20s. This winter has been so cold that many producers haven't been able to get any sap yet.
