GameNight: Islanders Lead Sabres 3-1 in 3rd
The Sabres hope to avoid a fifth straight loss tonight against the New York Islanders. Buffalo welcomes Rasmus Ristolainen back to the team after the rookie defenseman was recalled from Rochester. The Isles are up 3-1 in the third period.
Goals by Frans Nielsen and Kyle Okposo put the Islanders ahead 2-0 after the first period. Nielsen's tally came just 3:31 into the game, a shot that found its way through traffic and into the Buffalo net. Okposo took advantage of a Henrik Tallinder penalty later in the period, sending a shot from the slot past Enroth for the 2-0 lead.
The two sides skated to a scoreless second period, but Tyler Ennis cut the New York lead in half early in the third. Ennis' power play goal made it 2-1, but only for 39 seconds. The Islanders immediately answered on Ryan Strome's breakaway goal to go back up by two.
