Buffalo Business Report - Tuesday, March 25th 2014

The State Liquor Authority has approved a liquor license for the operator of the Courtyard by Marriott hotel that will help anchor the One Canalside Building.  Business First reports the hotel is slated for an early May opening on the first four floors of the building.

With the approaching March 31st deadline to buy health insurance on the state marketplace in mind, Univera Healthcare has prepared an infographic.  It shows the higher out-of-pocket costs for getting care outside of a health plan's provider network.

Finalists for the 2014 Buffalo Niagara Business Ethics Awards have been announced.  In the small business category,  EGW Associates, Inc., Ellicott Small Animal Hospital and Masiello, Martucci, Calabrese & Associates will vie for the honor.  Buffalo Hotel Supply Co., Inc., Compu-Mail LLC and James Desiderio Wholesale Produce are the mid-sized finalists.  No large company completed an application by the January 31st deadline.  The awards will be handed out Thursday, May 8th at a luncheon at Salvatore’s Italian Gardens.
