Weber, Predators Pound Sabres 6-1

The Predators got two goals from Shea Weber in a 6-1 rout over the Sabres on Thursday, sending Buffalo to its 10th loss in 11 games. Rasmus Ristolainen scored the lone goal for the Sabres.

Nashville took it to the Sabres right away, scoring four times in what proved to be a disasterous period for Buffalo. Colton Sissons notched his first goal of the season, flicking a rebound past Matt Hackett 6:26 into the game. Later in the period, Colin Wilson outworked Christian Ehrhoff in front of the crease, slapping at a puck that hit Ehrhoff and landed in front of the net for the 2-0 lead. Nashville made 3-0 just nine seconds later on Calle Jarnkrok's first. Enjoying a 5-on-3 power play late in the opening period, Weber sent a rocket past Hackett, putting the Preds up 4-0 after 20 minutes.

Ristolainen, playing as an emergency call-up from Rochester, fired a slapshot past Carter Hutton to get Buffalo on the board early in the second, but Weber gave Nashville its four-goal lead back just 4:13 later. The Predators captain sent another blast into the Sabres' net, this time beating Nathan Lieuwen -- who replaced Hackett to start the second -- for the 5-1 lead. Eric Nystrom added a goal with 40 seconds left in regulation to make it 6-1.

Buffalo returns home on Saturday to face the Tampa Bay Lightning at 7 p.m. Former goaltender Dominik Hasek will be inducted into the Buffalo Sabres Hall of Fame prior to the game.

What do you think about the Bills acquisition of Matt Cassel?
I like it. They can win with Cassel, a strong run game and great defense.
I don't like it. He's done nothing since his big year in 2010.
The Bills should still bring in another QB to compete.
