Buffalo Business Report - Wednesday, April 2nd 2014



The February unemployment rate for the Buffalo-Niagara Falls region dropped to a six-year low.  The jobless rate was 7.6 percent compared to 8.8 percent in February of last year.

The Lord Amherst Hotel on Main Street at the 290 will close by mid-month for renovations.  Iskalo Development Corp. plans to re-brand the facility as a boutique hotel, with a planned re-opening in spring 2015.

According to Business First,  Independent Health rebounded in 2013, finishing the year with a $20 million surplus.  Independent Health took a $50 million loss in 2012.

Lakelet Financial Forensics Group and DIGITS LLC have formed a strategic partnership.  No financial terms were announced.  The merger will help provide data security for mergers & acquisitions.

Merchants Insurance Group policyholders can take advantage of a new app to pay their policies and review their payment information.
