NHL Playoffs Day 4 recap; Blues, Blue Jackets win in OT



After netting a game tying goal with less than 30 seconds left to play in regulation Thursday night, the St. Louis Blues continued their late-game heroics, as they defeated the Chicago Blackhawks 4-3 in overtime Saturday.

Down 3-2 with 6.4 seconds left to play, Forward Vladimir Tasarenko scored the tying goal to give us free hockey. As opposed to Thursday however, St. Louis wasted no time as defenseman Barret Jackman put a seeing-eye slap shot through Chicago goalie Corey Crawford's legs for the winner.

The Blues have a 2-0 lead in this best-of-7 series, which shifts to Chicago on Monday for Game 3.

Blue Jackets get first ever playoff win

Matt Calvert scored two goals for Columbus Saturday night, including one in the game's second overtime to even their series with the Pittsburgh Penguins 1-1. Calvert scored 1:10 into the second overtime. CBJ plays host to the penguins Monday night at 7.

Wild have no answer for Avs' young guns

Nathan MacKinnon and Paul Stastny each had four points for the Avalanche, and Gabriel Landeskog netted two goals in Colorado's 4-2 win over the Minnesota Wild.

"It's very exciting out there," MacKinnon said. "Everybody's having a blast. We're having fun because we're winning. I still feel like a kid, I'm 18. I'm trying not to grow up too fast. I'm enjoying this."

Avalanche Goaltender Semyon Varlamov added 30 saves in the win.

Colorado now holds a 2-0 series lead, and it's now Minnesota's turn to host. Game 3 is set for Monday at 7:00 PM.

Four matchups on Sunday

The New York Rangers will try to take a 2-0 series lead on the Philadelphia Flyers - the two teams are set to get underway at noon. The Bruins host the Red Wings at 3, Tampa Bay will try to avoid a 3-0 deficit when they take on Montreal tonight at 7, and the Kings and Sharks do battle at 10 o'clock.
