Amerks face elimination after Game 3 loss

So much for momentum.

The Rochester Americans followed up a strong Game 2 win in their Best-of-5 series with the Chicago Wolves with a 4-0 shutout loss.
The Amerks managed only 18 shots on goal in Game 3 and gave up three power play goals to fall down two games to one in the series.

In his first game back from the St. Louis Blues, forward Adam Cracknell scored two goals for the Wolves and put seven shots on goal. Blues top prospect Dmitrij Jaskin had two assists.

Chicago was the better team from tape to tape, but the Amerks’ loss did not come without opportunities. They went 0-for-4 on the power play, including giving up a shorthanded goal to Cracknell that put the Wolves up 1-0 late in the first period.

Early in the third, Rochester created several chances and appeared to be putting on pressure, but an ugly penalty taken by Johan Larsson put the game on ice. Seconds after Larsson went to the box for roughing, forward Keith Aucoin scored to give the Wolves a three-goal lead.

Amerks goaltender Andrey Makarov performed well in the loss, stopping 26 of 30 shots.
