Bills Sale in July?

Reports regarding the potential sale of the Buffalo Bills continue to creep up, this time linking former Sabres owner Tom Golisano to the team.

It all started when New York State extended the contract with attorney Irwin Raij to work on a new stadium to ensure the Bills future after the Wilson family sells the team.

“The governor wants to be prepared if there are any earlier offers to buy the team,” Lt. Gov. Robert Duffy said, via the Associated Press. “Our team is looking at sites now in Erie County, Buffalo, Niagara County. We’re just being prepared because we don’t know who the next owner will be. We’re not sure what the goals and the objectives of the next ownership team will be.

According to the AP, the Bills could be sold as early as July, and that a prospective ownership group has already toured potential stadium locations.  Any sale of the team would have to be approved by the other NFL owners when they hold their next meeting in October.

Although the AP hasn’t identified any potential owners, the Buffalo News learned Bills Team President and C.E.O. Russ Brandon dined with Former Sabre Owner Tom Golisano and Managing Partner Larry Quinn last Thursday.

Stay tuned to WGR for the latest on the potential sale of the Bills.
