Buffalo Business Report - Monday, May 5th 2014

The local average cost for a gallon of unleaded gas has gone up thirteen cents in the past month to $3.87.  That's twenty cents higher than the national average of $3.67.

With the removal of the ice boom on the upper Niagara River, there are firm plans for the tour boat season.  Hornblower Cruises will begin trips to the base of the Falls on May 15th.  It will be the first year for Hornblower, which operates from the Canadian shores.

The former Malamute Bar on South Park Avenue is about to get a new lease on life.  According to Business First, it has been leased to a former Buffalo resident who has moved back to his home city and plans to re-open the once-popular watering hole under the name Ballyhoo.  An early fall opening is planned.

Locally owned video game retail chain Oogie Games LLC has moved its Williamsville location.  It's now part of the Food Court Concourse in the Eastern Hills Mall.
