Bandits Drop Knighthawks 12-8; Lead Series 1-0

Buffalo, NY (WGR 550)  -- The Buffalo Bandits defeated the Rochester Nighthawks 12-8 in game one of the NLL East Finals.

Mark Steenhuis and John Tavares each scored four goals, while Dhane Smith netted a hat trick to lead the Bandits to victory at the First Niagara Center.

Buffalo had a two-goal lead twice in the game, but Rochester rallied back both times in this see-saw battle.  However, the black and orange erupted in the fourth quarter out-scoring the Knighthawks 6-1 to take game one in a best of three series.

If Buffalo wins next week, they will move on to the NLL Finals. Game two will be held next Saturday at 7:30 inside the Blue Cross Arena in Rochester.
