Buffalo Business Report - Tuesday, June 17th 2014



The Hamister Group, through its Orchard Heights Inc. affiliate, is working with the ECIDA on a proposed $28.6 million expansion.  Business First reports a June 27 public hearing at the Orchard Park Town Hall has been set to consider a series of tax breaks for the project.  Hamister's plans call for a 132,000 square-foot addition to the Orchard Heights senior living complex.   With the expansion, the Hamister Group will add 7 full-time employees and 16 part-time workers.

Mark Hamister also announcing that he will make his new hotel project in Niagara Falls a Hyatt Place Hotel.  The $25 million project is taking shape on Rainbow Boulevard and Old Falls Street.

The E.W. Scripps Co. has officially closed on its deal to purchase WKBW-TV and a Detroit TV station.  Scripps paid a reported $110 million to Granite Broadcasting Corporation for the pair of stations.
