Buffalo Business Report - Monday, June 23rd 2014

The local average price for a gallon of unleaded gas is up two cents from a week ago to $3.84.  According to the AAA, we paid ten cents less per gallon one year ago.

Smith Travel Research reports hotel occupancy rates for Buffalo and Erie County dropped for a seventh consecutive month in May.  For the month,   
hotel occupancy rates dropped 5.9 percent to 67.3 percent.  The year-to-year rates are down 5.3%.

Business First reports Old Dutchman Wrought Iron Inc. received unanimous approval from the Amherst Industrial Development Agency’s directors for an incentive package.  That will kick-start a $1.6 million expansion and see the company’s Millersport Highway manufacturing base increase from 5,000-square-feet to 25,000-square-feet. The company will be receiving sales, mortgage recording and property tax breaks.

D Post, a video post production and 3-D animation company in Buffalo, is planning to expand.  The company hopes to build a sound studio for effects or production shooting next to its main offices at 686 Main Street.
