Djokovic outlasts resolve of Federer, wins 2nd Wimbledon title

For a while, it looked like nothing was going to get in the way of Roger Federer's record-breaking 8th Wimbledon Championship win, not even a 3-game lead in the 4th set at championship point for Novak Djokovic.

It wasn't to be for Federer.  Going for his record-extending 18th Grand Slam title, Federer couldn't overcome some late match mistakes in the final set, as Djokovic defeated Federer in 5 sets 6-7 (7), 6-4, 7-6 (4), 5-7, and 6-4.

The win at Wimbledon gives Djokovic his 2nd Wimbledon title and his 7th career Grand Slam title, retaining his #1 ranking in the ATP.

Down 5-2 in the 4th set, it looked like the run for Federer was over, but Roger battled back.  Down 5-4, Federer faced match point for Djokovic and aced a serve to tie the set at 5.  Federer took the next two games to force a 5th set.

Federer's serve had been broken just once all tournament, but Djokovic was able to break the serve of Federer 4 times on Sunday.  Ultimately, Djokovic's ability to take advantage of Federer's mistakes was what led him to the title.
