The Buffalo Sabres acquired a forward from the Winnipeg Jets on Wednesday night.

The Blue and Gold acquired LW Jordan Samuels-Thomas in exchange for a conditional 7th round draft pick in 2015.

Samuels-Thomas (6’3, 195 lbs) was drafted by the Atlanta Thrashers in the 7th round (203 Overall) of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft. The Hartford native notched 13 goals and 29 points in 34 games for Quinnipiac University last season.

I don't follow Canadian University Hockey. Is this good news?
07/09/2014 9:55PM
um huh
The school is located in the u.s. And there playing in the hockey tournament every year.
07/09/2014 9:56PM
He isn't from a Canadian University. It's Quinnipiac University..I think they won the NCAA tournament a couple years ago. Apparently you don't follow American University Hockey either.

Quinnipiac University
Quinnipiac University is not in Canada its in Connecticut. but they are a pretty decent Division 1 program that has had some good success

Quinnipiac is not a Canadian University...

It's in US
Quinnipiac is in Connecticut. Probably signed for depth in Rochester.

seems like a solid Rochester bound pick up with some upside if they can sign him
07/10/2014 12:25AM
Somebody has to play in Rochester? Can't talk forever about Floperenko, can they Sal Cappacio?
07/10/2014 12:29AM
Not quite
The Jets-Sabres trade we were hoping for.
07/10/2014 12:49AM
surprising value
playing in the ecac isn't great but they were in the national championship vs yale two years ago. over a point per game in US college hockey is pretty darn good. Tim has these guys he likes. I trust him. I actually feel like he knows more than I do about putting together a hockey team. That's better than we've had since Muckler.

re: yay?
Connecticut, but close.
07/10/2014 2:15AM
Evidenty Winnipeg didn't think much of him.
So I don't think it's good news or bad. Just fodder for Rochester.
07/10/2014 7:26AM
This ain't no Evander Kane. What a Joke!
07/10/2014 8:34AM
Rochester will benefit.
07/10/2014 8:51AM
If they don't sign him by August 15, he becomes a free agent
And the Sabres keep their 7th pick. So we'll see what happens.

Welcome to Hockey Heaven where the goal is to be the worst team in the NHL
Sounds like a cowardly back door way to improve, it is a disgrace. Throw the season Murray, you can't improve the team by normal means.
07/10/2014 9:51AM
Worth a 7th pick
You just never know, but I like it. Might as well try and stockpile Rochester if you can sign him. If not, not big deal.
07/10/2014 10:51AM
This may only be a part package
Evander Kane may be involved in the other part of this deal. Relax! Stay tuned for Breaking News...

Reply to yay?
It's in the former Yugoslavia. State school on University side. That up clears it.

Could turn Stafford into trade bait
He has the same size as Stafford and looks to be infinitely stronger and tougher. If he does well and works his way up through the ranks his production should be at least even with Stafford making DS expendable once and for all.

MY GOD!! IT'S LIKE SHE NEVER LEFT!!! Now Seriously, my sources tell me that the current "SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT" of the Arizona Coyotes, one DARCY REGEIR, had been relentlessly pursuing "Jordan Samuels-thomas" since the 2008 NHL draft. So naturally Current WALMART gm Tim Murray stepped up "BOLDLY" and snatched him from DARCY'S grasp for WALMART INSTEAD!!! Yes WALMART NATION, AS DESTINED FOR WALMART, yet another "non NHL player" is added to the "WALMART STABLE"!!! Yes that Murray aggressively continues to secure WALMARTS place in the NHL: DEAD LAST, AGAIN! Some things never change... WALMART= THEEE BIGGEST NICKLE AND DIME LOoSER FRANCHISE, THAT'S $30 MILLION DOLLARS "BELOW" THE SALARY CAP, IN ALL OF PRO SPORTS HISTORY"!!! WHO'S ELITE? WHAT'S ELITE? WHERE'S ELITE? WHEN'S ELITE? HOW'S ELITE? WHY'S ELITE? Was MIKA NORENEN ELITE? No!!!! I am "THE ELITE ONE"! Say my NAME.

Bring back Hawerchuck
07/10/2014 7:09PM
Nice, Jordan and Rochester would like to thank you.
07/10/2014 10:56PM
it sounded Canadian... so, yes, I don't follow college hockey, or major Junior, either. But thank you.
07/11/2014 9:55AM
If the ECAC is so bad
Why did 2 of its teams play in the championship game in 2013 (Yale/Quinnipiac) and Union won the title in 2014?
07/11/2014 11:07AM
Does insignificance like this get posted!
07/12/2014 1:21AM
Say your name...moron
Is anybody else sick of Mr. Walmart the one trick pony. Can this guy be euthanized? Or at least rendered unable to reproduce. Please buddy, send e-mails to Jim Rome or Sandy Beach or your friends on Mars.
07/12/2014 2:31AM
it the general manager Tim Murray who said to "jump on the bandwagon" recently? this team is horrible and will be for several more years. are they going to tank the season to get the top pick? in 3 or 4 years they will magically mature and be in the ranks of the Kings or Blackhawks? am I missing something here?
07/13/2014 11:19AM
Mr. Walmart very important today more then ever:
Keeps us focused through out this turmoil.

With initial bids now in, what's your feeling about the future of the Bills?
With Pegula in, I'm more optimistic than ever
  Guarded optimism
I have a bad feeling the Toronto group will win
