Team USA will be without Tiger Woods for this year’s Ryder Cup.
Woods informed U.S. Ryder Cup captain Tom Watson that he will not participate in the September 26-28 tournament in Scotland. Woods has played through a bad back all season and had surgery March 31 to relieve pressure caused by a pinched nerve.
Woods said on his web site he's targeting a return in December at the World Challenge tournament in Orlando that benefits his foundation.
Tim Connolly happens in golf too? Here comes Mcllroy Tiger!!!
Just to be clear
He pulled out of ::consideration for:: the Ryder Cup...he wasn't on the team, and was a borderline captain's pick at best. What this did was save Tom Watson a PR nightmare of not picking the greatest player ever (because he is obviously not healthy, and as a result not currently one of the best 12 Americans). Fun fact: the last time he didn't play was the last time they won.
Can't pull out if you're not in.
Tiger removed himself from consideration as a Captain's Pick. He didn't "pull out" because he didn't earn his way in on merit. With all his drama, injuries and poor play, I think Watson would have had the stones to leave him off the team. Now if we could only get Furyk and his terrible Ryder Cup record off teh team...
it's good to see Tiger learning the value of pulling out. getting with all those perkins waitresses must've taught him something
