Bills interview McDermott; Goodwin to interview on Saturday

The search for the 20th head coach in franchise history is underway for the Buffalo Bills with the interviews stage beginning on Wednesday.

The team announced that they have conducted their interview with Carolina Panthers defensive coordinator Sean McDermott on Wednesday.

McDermott has spent the past five seasons with the Panthers as their defensive coordinator, and spent two prior seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles as their defensive coordinator and secondary coach.

The Bills will continue the interview process as the team will reportedly talk to Arizona Cardinals offensive coordinator, Harold Goodwin. ESPN's Josina Anderson was the first to report the news.

Goodwin has spent the past three seasons as the Cardinals' offensive coordinator under head coach Bruce Arians. Goodwin went to Arizona with Arians after he was hired by the Cardinals as their head coach in 2013. Goodwin was with Arians in Indianapolis when served as the offensive coordinator and interim head coach with the Colts in 2012.

According to Bills owner Kim Pegula in a conversation with our own Sal Capaccio, the team is planning on interviewing 5-6 candidates for the job. This does include interim head coach Anthony Lynn, who is scheduled to interview for the San Francisco 49ers' open head coaching position on Wednesday.

The Bills have also reportedly expressed interest in talking to Eagles offensive coordinator Frank Reich and Miami Dolphins defensive coordinator Vance Joseph.
