(WGR 550) -- Here's all the happenings of the opening day of NHL Free Agency.
The Buffalo Sabres have officially made a splash and signed goaltender Patrick Lalime to a 2-year contract worth $2 million total. Lalime spent last season with the Chicago Blackhawks. Lalime told Schopp and the Bulldog this afternoon he signed with the expectation of playing anywhere from 15 to 20 games.
Lalime started 30 games last season for the Blackhawks, sporting a record of 16-12-2. He had a goals against average of 2.82 and a .897 save percentage in 2007-2008.

6:30- UFA forward Brian Rolston signs with the New Jersey Devils for 4 years, worth $20 million.
6:14- Columbus signs UFA defenseman Mike Commodore to a 5-year, $18.75 million contract.
6:12- Philadelphia signs Ossi Vaananen to a 1-year deal worth $1 million.
5:44- Former Buffalo Sabres defenseman Brian Campbell is officially off the market. He signs a 8-year, $56.8 million contract with the Chicago Blackhawks. He'll receive $7.1 million annually.
4:45- Buffalo signs UFA goaltender Patrick Lalime to a 2-year contract. Lalime will be making $1 million per season.
4:16- Tampa Bay signs UFA goaltender Olaf Kolzig to a 1-year, $1.5 million contract.
4:04- Colorado has signed UFA forward Darcy Tucker to a 2-year, $4.5 million contract.
4:01- Vancouver signs RFA forward David Backes to a 3-year, $7.5 million offer sheet. The St. Louis Blues have 7 days to match the offer. If they decline they receive a 2nd round draft pick as compensation.
3:49- Corey Stillman agrees to a 3-year, $10.6 million contract with the Florida Panthers
3:48- The New York Rangers sign UFA forward Aaron Voros

3:17- Phoenix signs UFA forward Todd Fedoruk to a 3-year deal.
3:15- Montreal re-signs forward Andrei Kostitsyn to a 3-year contract, worth $3.25 million a year.
3:14- UFA goaltender Ty Conklin agrees with Detroit to a 1-year, $750,000 contract
3:09- Colorado signs UFA goaltender Andrew Raycroft to a 1-year deal.
2:56- Washington and UFA goaltender Jose Theodore agree to a 2-year contract worth $4.5 million a season.
2:55- Phoenix signs UFA defenseman Kurt Sauer to a 4-year contract worth $1.75 million annually.
2:30- Pittsburgh and F Evgeni Malkin are working out a contract extension per the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Terms of the deal are undisclosed, but are said to be along the lines of Sidney Crosby's five-year deal worth $8.7 million annually.
2:12- Pittsburgh re-signs UFA defenseman Mark Eaton to a 2-year, $2 million contract
2:11- Minnesota signs UFA F Andrew Brunette
1:46 Vancouver re-signs F Kyle Wellwood to a 1-year deal worth $997,500
1:36- Minnesota acquires D Marek Zidlicky from Nashville in return for prospect Ryan Jones and a 2nd round pick.
12:55- Tampa Bay signs UFA Radim Vrbata to a 3 year, $9 million contract.

Anaheim re-signs F Corey Perry to a 5 year deal worth $26.625 million.
Detroit re-signs D Brad Stuart to a 4 year contract worth an average of $3.75 million a year.
Pittsburgh re-sgns F Pascal Dupuis for a 3 year deal worth $1.4 million annually.
New Jersey re-sings D Bryce Salvador to a 4 year deal worth $11.6 million.
New Jersey re-signs F Jay Pandolfo, F David Clarkson, F Barry Tallackson to undisclosed deals.
New Jersey declines the option on F Sergei Brylin.
JUNE 30
The Tampa Bay Lightning have been the most active early, reportedly acquiring the rights to Pittsburgh's Ryan Malone and Gary Roberts, as well as Minnesota's Brian Rolston. TSN is reporting that Malone has inked a seven year, $31.5 million deal with Tampa Bay, who hired Malone's father as their head pro scout last week. The Penguins received a third-round pick in 2009 for the two players' rights.
The Avalance have resigned defensemen John-Michael Liles and Adam Foote, the former for four years and close to four million per year. TSN is reporting that Foote's deal would be for two years and six million.
Edmonton have sent Jarrett Stoll and Matt Greene to the Kings for puck-moving defenseman Lubomir VIsnovsky. The Oilers inherit the five-year, $28-million contract extension Visnovsky signed with the Kings in July 2007, while Stoll will be unrestricted in 2009, Greene in 2010.
Philadelphia's Jeff Carter was set to become a restricted free agent, but re-inked with the Flyers for three years and $15 million.
The Flames have re-signed Craig Conroy and Daymond Langkow, as well as Eric Nystrom and Curtis McElhinney.
