Tackle Jason Peters is ending his holdout and will report to the Bills on Saturday. The team has already made the decision that Peters will not play in their season opener against the Seahawks on Sunday.
The Bills have responded to the report, releasing this statement:
"In regards to the report on nfl.com that Jason Peters is ending his holdout and returning to the Bills, COO Russ Brandon said, 'It is our understanding that Jason has filed a re-instatement letter with the National Football League and that he is reporting to One Bills Drive tomorrow morning."
Peters was originally placed on the reserved/did not report list prior to the season, so he would be required to apply for reinstatement. Schefter reported that the tackle has done so.
According to the report, the NFL is expected to grant the Bills a 2-game roster exemption, meaning they would not have to immediately cut a player to make room for Peters.
Peters has three years remaining on his current contract but was looking for a raise after being moved to the left side of the line and making the Pro Bowl. There is no new deal to report yet, but there is a promise that the two sides will work toward a contract.
