Stroud ready for reunion

(WGR 550) -- A statistician's error came back to benefit Marcus Stroud during Wednesday's Media Day at One Bills Drive.

Bills fans are hoping a Jaguars' mistake comes back to haunt them Sunday afternoon at All-Tel Stadium.

The mammoth defensive tackle was given credit for not one but two sacks in the Bills' season-opening 34-10 thrashing of the Seahawks, adding Kyle Williams 1.5 sacks to his own half-sack. On Sunday, Stroud gets a shot at the Jaguars in Jacksonville, who deemed him expendable just five months ago.

"He's a good football player," said Jaguars head coach Jack Del Rio in a Wednesday conference call. "Decisions must be made about your future short-term and long-term, and we decided to move him... All we can do is wish him the best."

It's a sentiment Stroud didn't receive from former defensive line partner, and current Jacksonville defensive tackle John Henderson.

"It's going to be a homecoming with a butt whipping. Did I say that right? A homecoming, with a butt whipping. Yeah, I like that [laughing]."

During seven years with the Jaguars, Stroud amassed 278 tackles, 22 sacks and six forced fumbles. At 6'6", 310 pounds, Stroud was the 13th overall pick in the 2001 NFL Draft, but injuries and a suspension derailed his ride with Jacksonville. Enter a trade to Buffalo, where things have been pretty fun for the big man. Heck, he's undefeated as a Bill.

That doesn't mean his release, and subsequent sentiment that the Jaguars would be better without him, doesn't get the Georgian going.

"I take everything as a chip," he said. "I use everything to be some kind of motivation, so it's not as serious as it may seem... Regardless of who I'm playing, my emotions are through the roof anyway. I'm going to be hyper, having fun and ready to play, regardless."

Stroud downplayed the idea of going into All-Tel Stadium as an opponent.

"It will (be weird), but I played there as a college student, so I'm used to being there on the other side, being booed and all that stuff," he said. "I had some good years in Jacksonville, and the fans were good to me and I'm not expecting anything less. I'm just going to go home and put on a good show."

Which Buffalo "What if" would be best for the city if it went differently? What if...
The Sabres didn't get HURT in the Carolina series
  Scott Norwood made the kick
Buffalo was awarded the MLB franchise
  The Braves never left
The football stadium was built downtown
