Arnott, Dumont Lead Predators To 2-0 Win Over Sabres
J.P. Dumont scored against his former team and Pekka Rinne stopped all 30 shots he faced as the Nashville Predators defeated the Buffalo Sabres on Monday 2-0.
It took nearly 50 minutes of hockey for either side to register a goal. Jason Arnott finally broke the goose eggs at 8:07 of the third period to give Nashville the 1-0 lead when he attempted to stuff the puck past Ryan Miller directly in front of the net. The puck instead deflected skyward and landed behind Miller in the net.
Dumont put the Predators up by two goals only a few minutes later. Defenseman Shea Weber took a shot that was stopped by Miller, however the rebound deflected off Henrik Tallinder's skate back toward the net. A diving Dumont extended his stick to tap the loose puck just hard enough so that it cleared the goalline to give Nashville a 2-0 lead.
Ales Kotalik returned to the ice for Buffalo after missing seven games, however captain Craig Rivet sat out with an upper body injury. Patrick Kaleta and Max Afinogenov were also scratched.
