Peters: Should've run more

nick@wgr550.com

(WGR 550) -- Jason Peters hasn't been the most celebrated of local athletes since his summer-long hold-out from the Buffalo Bills, but the offensive tackle said some things Monday that many fans will have trouble denying.

After head coach Dick Jauron admitted that he wishes they would've got Marshawn Lynch more touches in the fourth quarter -- the Bills running back had one -- Peters agreed.

"That’s unlikely more a coach to admit it, but he took it on it shoulders to admit that he should have ran it more and we know we should have ran it more in the red zone," Peters said. "I think we could have thrown in a run or two, but you have to execute the play that is called and make it work. I think we could have ran it a little bit more in the red zone."

Lynch had averaged over eight yards-per-carry in the second most-productive ground game of his young career, and coincidentally or not, Peters has performed his best in the Bills' last three games, contests in which Lynch averaged 5.2, 4.0 and 8.4 yards-per-carry, twice going over the 115-yard mark.

Peters said he knows the Bills have to play at a higher level.

"Very high," he said. "We have to go out there and leave it on the field. There’s no next year, there’s no tomorrow, we just have to go out Sunday for the next four weeks and leave it out there."
