Buffalo, NY (WGR 550) -- Paul Gaustad had to leave Sabres practice today as he got hit in the chin with a puck. Assistant coach James Patrick was attempting to shoot a puck into the zone. It deflected and hit No. 28. Lindy Ruff thinks Gaustad will get sewn up and be okay. It was a tough, demanding practice as Nathan Paetsch lost a tooth. He already has stiches in his lip after being high-sticked in New Jersey.
Craig Rivet is practicing on a limited basis. He said he can take the pain in his shoulder, but he stopped playing because he couldn't play the physical style he's used to. Ruff said the doctor said to take Rivet's injury in two week intervals. Rivet is frustrated because he hasn't been able to play up to speed all season. He said his knee injury isn't quite 100-percent yet either.
Pat Kaleta is not cleared for full contact yet with his neck injury. The winger said he'll see the doctor tomorrow.
Ruff said Tim Connolly continues to improve, but is still is a ways away.
