Russ Brandon Speaks at the Combine

Buffalo Bills Chief Operating Officer Russ Brandon made a surprise, unscheduled visit with the media at the NFL Scouting Combine on Friday. He fielded questions about anything and everything from the draft process, free agency, the Bills' upcoming free agents, as well as the pending legal situations. Here's just some highlights from the conversation:

-On Marshawn Lynch: "We need to reserve judgment at this point. We don't have all the facts, we're still gathering information and then at the appropriate time we will comment on it."

- Speaking about Ko Simpson's run-in with the law, Brandon said that situation has been pretty much cleared up, and the team is looking forward to getting Ko back in the spring.

- Free agency starts next week, and the Bills have struck quickly the past couple seasons. Brandon said about their quick acting ways, "I think you want to get after it the minute after the bell sounds. From our stand point, we don't want any stone to go unturned."

- I asked about Angelo Crowell and whether or not the team would be open to bringing him back, and Brandon assured me that door would never be closed between the organization and 'Crow' as he called him.

- About soon-to-be free agent cornerback Jabari Greer: "I think Jabari knows how we feel about him. We've been in constant communications with his representatives, as well. We'd love to have Jabari back in the mix. We'll do everything within our power to make sure that he's back and try to have him in the mix, and see how it plays out.

- He was surprised that there were so many franchise tags this year. He said it took a hit to their free agency board because of the 14 total teams that utilized their franchise tags.

- They approach the draft and free agency in similar ways, preparing a board of who they want, and not shying away from that.

-The combine is a great opportunity for the team to see the college players up close, and to more importantly get a lot of information about these prospects.
