So now what?

Now that the Bills have agreed to a deal with the Eagles for their Pro Bowl tackle what's next? Peters is in Philadelphia and it's possible the trade hinges on Peters getting a new contract with the Eagles.

Peters was one of the few moves that worked out for former GM Tom Donahoe. Donahoe seemed to be at his best the day after the draft finding undrafted players that can play in the league. He got Jabari Greer that way as well as Rashad Baker.

Peters arrived as this huge TE, but the Bills started dabbling with him at tackle. He played both for a few years and excelled on special teams. Buffalo finally decided to put him at LT where he's made the Pro Bowl the past two seasons. During that time (2006), he signed a contract that paid him around four million dollars per season. That deal has two years left on it. You all know about the hold out last season and it was looking like this season would be more of the same.

Peters wants about 11-million per season. The Bills felt he wasn't the best LT in the NFL and shouldn't be paid like it. I agree. He made the Pro Bowl last season on reputation only, but his agent isn't going to admit that. The Bills did what needed to be done and I applaud that. They now may have nine picks in next week's draft including two first rounders.

This team has to find some players that can play now because with what has been done so far this season, seven wins with the schedule they have would seem like a Super Bowl year.

What have they done? They've upgraded WR with Owens. They've signed a back up in Carolina to start at center. Maybe that will work out, we'll see. They cut their underachieving LG and replaced him with a back up tackle from their own team. The have an average football player at RG and an average to below average player at RT who now will likely be the LT. They still need a LB, they need a DE, they need a DT. I'm not trying to be a wise jerk here, but in my opinion they need a head coach.

The Bills will have two first round picks on the 25th. If this team is to make the playoffs or even improve, they better get two football players that can play now!
