Orchard Park, NY (WGR 550) -- Roscoe Parrish has been walking around OTA's with a scowl on his face and today he talked about why. Parrish has never been given a role in the offense and he still has 97 catches in four seasons. The former second round pick is one of the best punt returners in the NFL, but he wants more, "Right now I have no idea," when asked about his role. Parrish added, "It's a tough situation and coming into it I've heard a lot of different things so I'm just coming in and know that my main role is punt return."
There were rumors that the Bills were trying to trade Parrish, but that didn't upset him. He said, "I feel like I can go anywhere and compete if it's here or with another team so it's out of my hands and it will take care of itself." I thought that I didn't ask the right question so I switched it to does he want to be traded and he said, "I'm not going to put emphasis on that so that's all I'll say on it."
Parrish has always had the confidence that he can be a wide receiver. He said, "I've been going through a lot of adversity due to my size, I wasn't going to get here, I wasn't going to get there, but I'm still here and it don't bother me. I feel there's not too much more I can do because I'm going on my 5th year. They've seen me, they know my ability and what I can do if I'm given the opportunity. I probably haven't been given the opportunity. The NFL is all about opportunity, you give a guy opportunity and I'm pretty sure he's going to make plays. If you don't give a guy an opportunity, you'll never know the ability he have to do it. As for me, I know I'm a true receiver, going on my 5th year people probably don't see that. Who said if I were to go to another team, not sayin' I want to but I might blossom more as a receiver."
Marshawn Lynch said he decided to put on weight this year and has bulked up to 230 pounds. He's listed at 215. Lynch said it feels good running with the extra weight and he doesn't feel he's lost a step. Lynch said he's bigger in the shoulders. He does a lot of swimming to help with that. Lynch says he hasn't heard from the NFL to see if his three game suspension has been reduced.
Terrence McGee said his shoulder is sore from his collision Wednesday with Terrell Owens. He said there was no damage and he'll be back soon.
In McGee's absence, Reggie Corner has done well. He picked off one ball today. Leodis McKelvin is also out for awhile as his hand was in a cast.
Missing today were Aaron Schobel and Josh Reed. Watching hurt were John DiGiorgio, Ashton Youboty, Cary Harris, Jonathan Scott, Bruce Hall, C.J. Hawthorne, P.K. Sam and Derek Schouman.
Today was a much better day throwing the ball for the offense. The quarterbacks were sharp. Trent Edwards hit both Owens and Lee Evans on fade routes for touchdowns. Owens scored from 35 yards out doing a great down and up move on rookie Ellis Lankster. Derek Fine caught a couple of TD's. The only negative is protection broke down after awhile and the defense probably would've had many sacks had it been live. Chris Kelsay flew by Lynch who did appear to give it much effort to stop him. Aaron Maybin got lose for one as did Ryan Denney and others.
