(WGR 550) -- The difference between Monday and Tuesday will be mandatory, and the Bills coaching staff has to hope its offense looks a little better, if just for appearances.
The final day of organized team activities was another one for the defense, which pestered Trent Edwards and Ryan Fitzpatrick like June's worst mosquitoes. Aaron Schobel had particular success against Langston Walker, while pressure up the middle was a constant theme.
Walker was injured late in the goings, and left on his own power. On the play, pressure up the middle forced Edwards into an interception, and consistent inaccuracy from the quaterbacks lead to several tipped balls and one-handed catch attempts.
Terrell Owens did not attend Monday's practice, while Aaron Schobel did take part. Leodis McKelvin, Terrence McGee and Ashton Youboty also practiced, though McKelvin still sported a bandaged arm.
First-round draft pick Eric Wood said he plans to be a starter on the offensive line.
"I didn't come here to sit on the bench, and they wouldn't have wasted a first round draft pick if they thought I was going to come here and try and sit on the bench," Wood said.
I also talked to Fred Jackson on his comfort level with Edwards.
"We spent time getting some timing down and things like that," Jackson said. "We're definitely getting comfortable with each other."
He was also asked about what Super Bowl champion Dominic Rhodes is bringing to the corps of running backs.
"Just leadership," Jackson said. "He's been where we're trying to get to."
Tuesday's practice will be the first of a mandatory mini-camp.
In other news, the Bills announced Monday that individual game tickets for the home opener vs. the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the New Orleans Saints and the Cleveland Browns are sold out. On Saturday, the Buffalo Bills surpassed 52,000 season tickets for the upcoming season. This is the first time since 1992 (57,132) and 1993 (53,004) that the Bills have had consecutive seasons of over 52,000 season tickets sold. The current total of 52,134 ranks as the sixth highest season ticket total in Bills history.
