The Sabres have extended qualifying offers to five restricted free agents: Drew Stafford, Clarke MacArthur, Pat Kaleta, Mark Mancari and Andrej Sekera. The deadline to make the offers and retain the rights to restricted free agents was 5 p.m. Monday.
MacArthur is scheduled to have a salary arbitration hearing.
As of Monday afternoon, General Manager Darcy Regier would not comment on the players they chose not to extend qualifying offers to because the players had not yet been notified of their status.
With the qualifying offers in place, the Sabres have the right to match any contract offers made to these players when Free Agency begins on Wednesday. The Sabres would also be compensated in the event that they lost Stafford, MacArthur, Mancari, Kaleta or Sekera to free agency.

I'm not really sure who writes this crap but i'm surprised that WGR posts it,i mean i understand that we're clammering for a winning team here however talent like like Spacek should not be compared to a slow skater like Kaleta.No ofence to him because i like him,he is an assetto our team no question about it but business is business.The big guys coming up from this draft-and future ones will take over the duties that guys like Kalettaperform but guys with excperience like Spacek do'nt grow on trees and they're not cheap,so who ya gonna go with? So yeah yer right pretty sloppy article and poor journalism. maybe you should learn something about hockey before atemting to comment about it!
