Hi. My name is Eric, and I am a man. A manly man! I have a manly job and do manly things. I talk in a manly way with manly words. I walk manly and I even shop manly. I enjoy manly sports and… I cried. I didn’t just mist up. I’m way past Jeremy at a wedding, make a scene for the bridesmaids to see how sensitive he is. I’m past Howard at a chick flick, losing control of his emotions so he could… actually I’m still not sure why he went. I cried. Why? Because, the media finally pushed me with its saturation of a news event. They do it all the time! Way past 9-11 coverage, way past Farve or OJ or Obama coverage.
It’s been four days since June 25th, and Michael Jackson is still DEAD! Its not news anymore! He is not going to come back and die again. This wasn’t a hoax. He’s not really hiding in a body bag waiting to jump up and yell, “Surprise”. I am so tired of all the news specials, the breaking non-stories of who gets custody of his dog. The biography’s documenting his life on every single channel. I don’t need to hear “spell binding” interviews with his: therapist, doctor, maid, gardener, best friend from childhood, or the nurse who changed his first diaper on EVERY SINGLE CHANNEL! They didn’t even bury him yet. Can you imagine what that day is going to be like?
Do you know what channel I’m watching? Any channel not trying to bombarded me with non-news. We’re to the point that as a society that we don’t even know what “news” is! The media is trying to tell us what news is by this constant overflow. The tail is officially wagging the dog!
