Miami, FL (WGR550) -- The Miami Dolphins continued their dominance over the Buffalo Bills with a 38-10 win at Land Shark Stadium Sunday afternoon. The Dolphins' defense pestered Bills quarterback Trent Edwards all afternoon, forcing three interceptions and sacking him six times.
The Bills received the opening kickoff, but failed to get the offense moving on the first drive. Roscoe Parrish gave the team starting field position inside Miami territory on the next possession thanks to a healthy return. Kick Rian Lindell missed a 49-yard field goal attempt at the end of the drive to keep the score 0-0 midway through the first.
The Dolphins rattled off the next 10 points thanks to a field goal and defensive score. The first points of the game came off of the foot of Dolphins’ kicker Dan Carpenter. Carpenter knocked home a 33-yard field goal for a 3-0 Miami lead. On the next Bills offensive play Vontae Davis intercepted Edwards and took it to the end zone for a 10-0 Dolphins’ lead early in the second quarter.
Lindell would convert a 35-yard field goal to cut the Miami lead to 10-3 part way through the second. Miami used the wildcat offense effectively the next drive to set up RB Ronnie Brown for a one-yard TD run and a 17-3 ‘Phins lead. The touchdown capped off a nine-play, four-minute and twenty-five second drive in the second.
Chad Henne threw his first TD pass of the day in the third quarter to up the Miami lead to 24-3. The Miami quarterback hooked up with Brian Hartline from five yards out to up the lead. Edwards threw his second interception of the day on the next Bills’ drive. Will Allen made the pick and gave the Dolphins prime field position. Ricky Williams punched in a one-yard TD run to up the Miami lead to 31-3.
Buffalo finally scored a touchdown on the second play of the final quarter. Edwards three-yard TD pass to Josh Reed capped off a nine-play drive, cutting the deficit to 31-10. Brown’s second rushing TD of the day upped Miami’s lead to 38-10 late in the fourth.
The loss drops the Bills to 1-3 on the season. The team returns home for a matchup with the Cleveland Browns next Sunday at 1:05. Miami notches their first win of the season, moving their record to 1-3 as well.
