Report: Bills Scrapping No-Huddle

It’s time to talk it over.

The Bills no-huddle offense is going back into storage.  There was a report Wednesday that the fast-paced attack would be a scraped in favor of a more traditional playing style.

The news was first released by the website Pro Football Talk.  The Bills did not address the news at media day.  Dick Jauron did admit that the team needed to put Trent Edwards “in the best position to succeed.”

Buffalo’s offense ranks in the bottom third of the league in two important categories, points and yards.

Why are the Bills the last to know?
Why are the Bills the last to realize that the no huddle is a very poor fit for a young offensive line, average quarterback at best and a defense that can't get off the field when it needs to? Every fan could see that weeks ago.
10/14/2009 6:39PM
scrap more
i think there are a few more things around one Bills drive that can be sent to the scrap yard...
10/14/2009 6:59PM
they should
scrap edwards and jauron thats the best position to succeed
10/14/2009 7:57PM
re
How about firing Jauron? That might help more than this empty attempt.
10/14/2009 8:09PM
Good!
Edwards isn't a Peyton or a Brady. He can't read defense and the team is too young to know the groove that is needed for the no huddle.
10/14/2009 8:24PM
??????
a little late dont ya think
10/14/2009 8:35PM
Good
Let's get Trent back to where he was last year, the no huddle only works when you have an offensive line...we don't have one.
10/14/2009 8:37PM
The funny thing is..
It's not even a true "no-huddle". It's slow, it's broading. It's not anything like the hurry up we had in the 90s. You can tell there pulling out every trick in the book to win this weekend. Abandon the no huddle, rush back Whitner/Poz, upgradinga rookie O linemen to play for Kirk Chambers. Jauron knows he loses he's toast.
10/14/2009 8:40PM
Trent
Trent's best position to succeed is the bench
10/14/2009 8:52PM
Eh
If it helps Trent realize there are still WR's on the field then I'm all for it.
10/14/2009 9:18PM
Who knows?
My guess this is going to be worse because all the way since mini camp till now they have practised no huddle. Not sure if better or worse?
10/14/2009 9:39PM
well it's been fun
really enjoyed the first five weeks of the season Buffalo Bills, looking forward to seeing what you have in store for the next 11. 12-6 is still within your grasp! I'm hoping to get our best player involved as much as possible, so scrapping the no-huddle was a good idea. Punting on first down seems to be a fun idea, and it'll surprise everyone! Really enjoying this show guys, on the field and off the field.... Cue the Circus Music!
10/14/2009 9:45PM
How about....
Scrapping the Bills? I'm thinking of going with Seattle in the NFC.... and the Bengals in the AFC.
10/14/2009 9:47PM
Needed to be done earlier
To complex for these idiots. Time to run the veer.
10/14/2009 10:06PM
Not the problem...
What we need is a better coach and quarterback. Ralph Wilson kept Jauron around for "continuity". Well his tenor here has been consistently mediocre and even worse of late. There has been zero improvement. Guess Wilson got what he wanted....
10/14/2009 10:08PM
Thunderstruck
I'm speechless. I've heard some stunning announcements. But this is just too much . . .
10/14/2009 10:21PM
Scrapping No-Huddle???
howz 'bout we scrap the "No-Coaching" offence instead, OK????
10/14/2009 10:40PM
public service announcement
Stop following this team.
10/14/2009 10:43PM
Mediocraty Here We Come!!!!
This will save the season. I can see it now. They can turn it around and go 8-8 instead of 5-11. Yahooo!!! Maybe Moorman can even represent the Bills in the ProBowl.
10/14/2009 10:44PM
where's the guy
who just write "sucks" I think we could pretty much write that for any article relating to this team from now on. What? He's on the Sabres page? Why? Oh, he doesn't actually follow sports.... I see...
10/14/2009 10:46PM
oh, by the way
they will win this weekend... then lose three straight. So after they beat the Jets and hope springs it's head from the ground, feel free to go ahead and crush it again.
10/14/2009 10:49PM
Bengals
Good choice I'm going With New Orleans in NFC.
10/14/2009 10:49PM
This will work better
than the current strategy of scrapping touchdowns.
10/15/2009 10:17AM
Scrapping- no huddle
That is what PRESEASON if for. They should have known at that point it was not meant to be and should of started the season with communicating in a huddle.
10/15/2009 11:41AM
It won't make a difference
This isn't the n-huddle of Jim Kelly days ... this is more of a muddle-huddle. It is not a quick paced attack no-huddle. The idea was to allow Edwards more time at the line to read the defenses and hopefully eliminate the "delay of game" penalties that Edwards kept getting the last 2 years. Well, we traded "delay of game" penalties for "false start" penalties and apparently Edwards isn't helped reading the defenses. "Captain Checkdown" makes the same reads as he has since the beginning of his pro career ... ie. throw a dump pass to Lynch, Jackson, et al as long as they are no more than 7 yards passed the line of scrimmage. If the Bills want to dump it ... fine. It won't help either way.
10/15/2009 11:50AM
The No Huddle?
Jim Kelley ran the no huddle Trent Edwards runs the all muddled
10/15/2009 12:38PM
Run the friggin' football
I hope this also means that we're going to concentrate on what we do well, running the friggin'football. Feed Fred and ML. No more shotgun passing on 3rd and 2. We can win Sunday. Jets aren't as good as the "experts" say they are.
10/15/2009 2:07PM
O.K...This is a Coaching Issue that has Failed
FIRE THE COACHES. DUH. Ralph you really need to give the team up to someone younger youre heads not in it anymore.
10/15/2009 2:59PM
Run baby Run
Time to roll the Marshawn-tank in, Jackson plow the field, weave some magic and run down the clock. With all of the key D-injuries that we have, we should think: the best Defence is an offence that can stay on the field, move the chains and score points. Guess what happens: you then have a confident QB who has a lot of pressure taken-of his shoulders and then maybe he'll start to play like he did when they were in 5-0 fantasy land last year. DICK & ALEX: THIS ISN'T ROCKET-SCIENCE!!!!
10/15/2009 3:39PM
Genius Idea
I can't this team losing another game all year.
10/15/2009 6:35PM
Edwards has upside
Most teams would be worried if they had one rookie on the offensive line. The Bills whole line is rookies and you expect the offense to excel? Keep Edwards and improve the offensive line play. If a coach listens to the fans most of who are football ignorant you will be sitting with them.
10/16/2009 3:10PM
No Huddle
Most ppl don't relize that in the 90s, kent hull did all the reading of the D. And to be truthfull I don't think lee evens is all that good. Good recivers can get open. How about lee runs better routes. Same for TO!! The O line is young and I have faith in a few years they could be very good together!
10/17/2009 12:12PM
gimmicks don't win super bowls
gimmicks don't win super bowls, as we proved back in our glory days with the k-gun. fundamentally sound offense, defense and special teams, execution, great athletes and great coaching win super bowls. Maybe we should run the wildcat next?
