Amherst, NY (WGR 550) -- Lindy Ruff claims no decision has been made on whether to keep Tyler Myers in Buffalo or send him back to junior. That seems pretty silly considering he's 9th in rookie scoring with five points in eight games. He's 5th in assists in 2nd in +/- with a plus 8. Myers also won the game in Tampa with a shoot out goal. "Ruff said, "We said we were going to evaluate after a X amount of games and that evaluation just keeps going on and that's everything, how he plays, how he acts, his practice habits, everything."
Myers said, "I'm trying not to think about it. I think I was thinking more about during the exhibition series. Now that I've played eight regular season games it feels like I'm a part of the team. What ever the coaches and the scouts decide for me, I'm sure they're doing it in my best interests so I'll accept what they decide." As far as if he belongs in the NHL Myers added, "I'm going to say yes, but obviously I'm going to say that. I'm just trying to take it day by day and do the best I can each game to show that I'm improving and we'll see what happens." As far as his partner Henrik Tallinder's concerned, "That's no decision because he's just that good, there's no problem."
Myers had played all eight games with Tallinder. They seemed to have helped each other as Tallinder is playing at a level we haven't seen since the Carolina Eastern Conference Final. Myers said, "I don't know about helping him but he's been a huge influence on me since I've been here. Just the communication he has with me in the dressing room and on the ice has just helped me out a lot and I can't thank him enough. Tallinder said, "That's nice of him to say that, but I think it's the other way around. He's a great kid and I think he has a lot of hockey in him already. The scary thing in he's just going to get better. How good can this kid be? He has helped me too because he has that youth and enthusiasm that kind of is what I need maybe, a more positive attitude so that's great."
Toni Lydman skated on his own, but his groin is still sore and he could miss the New Jersey game. Andrej Sekera is seeing the doctor today.
