Boston, MA (WGR 550) -- Jhonas Enroth was being coy this morning on whether he was going to get his first NHL start. His answer was, "You'll have to see tonight." The wait is over after head coach Lindy Ruff has confirmed that the Swedish-born netminder will start in goal for the Sabres.
As I think more about it, the Bruins are a perfect opponent for him to face. Phil Kessel is gone and Marc Savard, David Krejci and Milan Lucic are all out. The slumping Bruins include Marco Sturm (no goals in 12 games), Blake Wheeler (2 goals in 10 games), Mark Recchi (one point in nine games), Zdeno Chara has no goals and Michael Ryder who has one point in nine games.
The Boston power play is last in the league with just six goals, four of which came in one game against Carolina.
The Bruins have just one win in five games. They only scored four goals and were shutout twice.
It's widely felt after three straight starts, Tim Thomas will sit for Tuukka Rask. He's 2-1-1 with a 2.41 goals against and .915 save percentage.
Looking at Enroth down in Portland for two seasons he's 29-30-6 with a 2.91 goals against and a .909 save percentage. He was Buffalo's second round pick in 2006. Rask was Toronto's first round pick in 2005. In another silly Maple Leaf trade they sent him to Boston for Andrew Raycroft.
Since Enroth was speaking in one word answers and in code, you won't hear him on the pregame with Brian Koziol at 6:00. Instead it will be Lindy Ruff, Mike Grier and the newest Boston Bruin, Dan Paille. You'll want to tune in to hear his thoughts on leaving Buffalo and how he was treated.
