A couple of days after the dismissal of Dick Jauron, John Clayton had takes on what’s next for the Bills. The ESPN commentator thinks the Bills are sniffing around some famous head coaches.
“The one thing I am hearing, and this could be encouraging is that Ralph and people in the organization are reaching out. They are being aggressive, not passive. They are willing to talk. Talk and money could come together. They’re not sitting back and waiting.”
When it comes to someone like Mike Shanahan, Clayton thinks it’s important the Bills get a head start on the hiring process.
“Now at least they can talk to him, reflect on things. They can ask, what would it take for you to come to Buffalo? Can the tradition of the franchise, Bills fans entice you to come? It is vitally important to use these seven weeks. With Mike Shanahan, Buffalo isn’t going to be his first choice.”
But how about Bill Cowher? Clayton thinks he’ll be back on the sidelines next year.
“He’s gonna put a little more restrictions on what’s going to get him back next year. He wants big money, seven, eight million dollars a year. He wants a decent chance for the team to be good. Here’s the real problem, he wants a quarterback on that team.”
