Lynch Fine With Back Seat Role
WGR News Reporting
Although Bills running back Marshawn Lynch has not officially lost his starting job to Fred Jackson, he did have his carries cut in Sunday's 31-to-14 win over the Miami Dolphins. On Monday Lynch said that he isn't upset over a limited role in the victory.
"I feel good. It feels good to come home and get a win in the fashion that we did. It's all right. If I could sit down and watch Fred (Jackson) do his thing, then that's what I'm going to do. As long as we get wins, I'm satisfied."
Interim Coach Perry Fewell does not address the media until Tuesday, so it is not yet clear if he intends to have Jackson handle the bulk of the carries for their upcoming game against the Jets.
Lynch had just 3 carries for 6 yards in Sunday's game. Fred Jackson carried the ball 15 times. Lynch certainly doesn't hold a grudge against his fellow back.
"Fred is my son. I love to see my man out there doing his thing. That's my boy, man."
With a short week, Coach Fewell is holding practices without pads. The Bills host the Jets in Toronto on Thursday night. Quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick applauds a light week.
"One of the toughest things is just the physical aspect of it. For the guys who are getting hit on every play and bumping around, it's going to be hard for them to recover from this last game. We're going to do our best to keep ourselves fresh."
Coach Fewell is winning the locker room over after just two games. Fitzpatrick thinks a spark has been lit.
"We've been playing hard all year but we've caught some breaks. There's a renewed optimism, but also just the energy in the locker room and the enthusiasm. I think that's helped as well."
