Buffalo, NY (WGR 550) -- The Sabres host the Rangers tonight looking for their 5th straight win. Another impressive streak is Buffalo has not given up a power play goal since its loss in Ottawa. The Sabres have killed off all 15 penalties since then and are now 3rd in the NHL behind Boston and San Jose.
Staying on the theme of streaks, Derek Roy has two goals and three assists in his last three games, Henrik Tallinder has two points in two games, Tim Kennedy has three points in three games, Tim Connolly is pointless in three games and has only scored goals in one of his last 15 games. Drew Stafford only has one goal in six games, Mike Grier and Jochen Hecht each have two goals and two assists in three games, Thomas Vanek and Jason Pominville each have a goal and four assists in three games, Clarke MacArthur has two goals in three games, Andrej Sekera has four points in three games and Tyler Myers has five assists in four games.
After giving up five goals at home to Florida, Ryan Miller has only allowed nine goals in his last six games. By the way, Patrick Lalime lost his first game in Portland 3-2 to Providence in a shootout. Lalime stopped 42 of 44 shots, but gave up three in the shootout. He'll face the Bruins again tonight.
The Rangers come to town with three straight losses. They're 3-and-7 in their last ten. Marian Gaborik is the league's only 20 goal scorer has he has 21. He has four points in his last two games. Ales Kotalik hasn't scored in nine games and Chris Drury has just two goals all season and hasn't scored in his last 13 games. Drury does have assists in three of his last four. Sean Avery is on a bit of a streak lately netting two goals and two assists in five games. Defenseman Marc Staal has three points in two games. Chris Higgins was brought in from Montreal and hasn't scored in ten games. Henrik Lundqvist has struggled lately giving up four goals in three of his last four games. He got pulled in Tampa Bay after 32 minutes.
The Rangers aren't bad on the PK either as they rank 6th. They're 10th on the power play while Buffalo's 20th.
