(WGR 550) -- The numbers for the Sabres against Ottawa haven't been very good the past few years.
-- Ottawa has won 22 of 33 contests between the two squads since 2005-06, garnering points in 25 of those games.
-- In a dreadful 2008-09 campaign that saw them finish eight points behind a Sabres team that missed the playoffs, the Senators still went 4-1 against Buffalo.
-- The Senators are 13-3-1 against Buffalo inside Scotiabank Place in Kanata, while Buffalo is just 6-11 versus Ottawa at HSBC Arena, where the two teams square off tonight at 7:30 p.m.
Adding to the intrigue is the fact that the Sabres can clinch a playoff spot with a win against the Senators on Friday night, ending years of frustration in a couple ways.
Ottawa recently ended a losing skid with back-to-back shutouts, and hasn't allowed a goal in over 135 minutes of hockey. Brian Elliott posted the zeroes on consecutive nights, blanking Philadelphia and Montreal, lowering his numbers to a 2.52 goals against average and .910 save percentage.

I am actually scared & nervous about tonight's game! I want so badly to believe in this team but numbers do not lie. A win tonight would be a great start to finish the year strong. They have a good amount of division games left, need to get on a roll.

Ottawa is junk.. They beat us ok..lets play a 7 game series with us having the home ice adv. its over..Sabres go as far as Ryan Miller takes us.. As much as we need a goal scorer (Raffi) who has been injured we needed someone to fill in for 44 cause the way he has been playing makes me sick.. Everytime he touches the puck I pray that he doesnt turn the puck over..Why Lindy puts him on the point on the PP is beyone me..But gotta win tonight show EVERYONE that Ottawa is nothing.

Ottawa losses usually lead to slumps
I don't mind the Sabres losing to the Sens as much as it bothers me when they go into slumps after losing to them. If they don't win this game tonight all I want as a fan is for the Sabres to come back strong and continue to reel off wins. This is no time to hang your head after a typical Ottawa beatdown and go in the tank. Wins this time of year are the most important. Its not so much about this game as it is about the next 3,4 and 5 games and how the team finishes out March and April. That's where we find out what kind of a team they are. If Roy, Stafford, Pominville, Connolly, Butler and Sekera have what it takes. I still have serious doubts about those players...time to end them.

All about the Sabres
No disrespect the Senators completely but the Sabres losses to them have been all about the Sabres. Far too many giveaways, a lack of desire to dump the puck in and pound and a a wierd habit of shoting right at the crest of the goalie. If the Sabres win tonight it will be becasue they give oever themselves and start playing like the team they can be...a team who is much better than a subpar Senators lineup.

Pressure
This Sabres team only does worse when there is pressure on these games. This game the Sabres can 1.)take second place in the Conference 2.)cripple Ottawa's hopes of taking first in the division 3.)stretch their streak to 6 games 4.)distance furtherfrom Montreal 5.)break the Ottawa Curse 6.)gain confidence for the playoffs. Meaningless Game
Tonights game would be nice to win. However, I would prefer if the Sabres come out and focus on hitting. Let's send send Rivet out to break Spetza's nose. I would much rather watch that then care about the goals. The Sentator's can boast all they want but they are the one's trailing in the points. They will be gone in the first round (if they manage to hang on and make the playoffs). Let's just have a little fun tonight.

there was a reason my stomach was in knots. This team can not, will not win when it matters. I just wasted 2 hours of my life & can not watch anymore. This is officially the last Sabres game I watch until they make some actual real changes. I mean real changes, not Zubrus, Moore, Bernier, Torres changes but real changes. Why does our 4th line get so much ice time? Why does Lindy give underachievers so much leeway? This team has no heart & Miller couldn't beat Ottawa if Ottawa played with no goalie! If you really are still a Sabres fan you better keep praying that Buffalo does not see Ottawa in the playoffs. Ottawa is 24-6 & a few ties against Buffalo since the lockout so thinking Buffalo stands a chance in a 7 game series is like thinking "All it takes is a dollar & a dream".
