Judging Nix won't be hard

I'm going to make this very easy, we will know within a month or two if Buddy Nix is up to being a NFL GM. For me, the first two things he needs to do is fire Tom Modrak and John Guy. Men with records like them in the business world would be forced to change professions by now. They certainly would not be holding the same jobs they've held for most of this decade. These men have names like Mike Williams, J.P. Losman, John McCargo, Roscoe Parrish, Trent Edwards, Donte Whitner, Chris Kelsay, Bennie Anderson, Trey Teague, Tim Anderson, Tutan Reyes, Larry Triplett, Mike Gandy, Melvin Fowler, Jeff Posey, Chidi Ahanotu, Mike Pucillo, Kirk Chambers, Derrick Dockery, Langston Walker, Robert Royal, Ko Simpson, Anthony Thomas, Willis McGahee and the list goes on and on to their names. The fact that Ralph Wilson still considered one of these two men a GM candidate proves once again he knows very little of what he's doing with this team. Nix must insist that Wilson no longer drafts players and no longer pick coaches. That is how the Buffalo Bills get better. It has to be Nix with new people around him.

His head coach is also a huge decision. He wants a leader, teacher and a guy that communicates with him. He said a guy with head coaching experience is an advantage. If that man does not come up like Marty Schottenheimer, then look for a man like San Diego Chargers Defensive Coordinator Ron Rivera. Sources close to this situation have told me that Rivera will be contacted if given permission by the Chargers. He won a Super Bowl while playing linebacker in Chicago. He was also the Defensive Coordinator with the Bears. Perry Fewell will also get an interview. Chances are good Charlie Weis will be contacted. Marv Levy was the last decent head coach around here and nothing changes until the people that pick and teach the players are different.

I always believe in giving people a chance I we need to do that with Nix too.

Falling Buildings....
If Ralph ran his construction business like he has "The Bills" for the last ten years.... there would be buildings falling down all over the country. I think he finally put down a good foundation. I remember listening to Nix during his time here and was impressed with his player evaluations . I was also disappointed when he left the sinking ship for San Diego. While I never thought of Nix then as Gen. Manager material, I thought " there goes the draft dept." I think he is probably as solid an evaluator of talent as the Bills are likely to find. Let' see if this building will topple... I don't think it will.

Schottenheimer Tree...let's hope the apples don't fall far from the tree?!?!
I'd be satisfied with an "under the radar hire" of Brian Schottenheimer. I think a young offensive minded guy could come in here and do great. With the relationship his father Marty has with new GM Buddy Nix, I think it would be a comfortable hire for Ralph. Then the news of Cowher comes(as i hear in the background the schmate scmarm commercial with the guy singing how long). Good question, a decade though a painful decade since we've seen meaningful football played in January. I'de love to see then Chin roaming the sidelines at the Ralph, and if he decides to come here maybe he'll bring another apple from the Schottenheimer tree, Brian Schottenheimer for OC worst case scenario??

Chan Gailey as OC?!?!
If Cowher comes to OBD we could also expect a visit from Chan Gailey the ousted Kansas City OC has ties with Cowher. This could be very real scenario as Houston Texans owner assured HC Gary Kubiak he would be retained next season. Tampa Bay coach Raheem Morris also reported to be retained as well. This leaves Buffalo as viable option for Cowher to bring his assembled staff of assistants... BIG SPLASH!!!

Phooey to that teacher BS
I don't want a teacher I want I coach that will be a beast on the sidelines on Sunday afternoon. I guy that can go on the road and match x' and o with the Top coaches. A guy who understands timeouts, penalties etc. The teaching needs to bedone from Monday through Saturday by well paid assistants. Too bad that Cheap stiff Wilson doesn't understand that.
