Canadian Press: Bills Look To CFL For Quarterbacks Coach

Dan Cave -- A report out of the Canadian Press indicates that the Bills may be turning to the Canadian Football League for coaching help. Calgary Stampeders offensive coordinator, George Cortez, is reported to be joining Chan Gailey's staff in Buffalo as a quarterbacks coach.
Cortez has spent 19 total years in the CFL and was Jeff Garcia's offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach in Calgary. He also had a stiant at the University of California where he worked under Jeff Tedford, but returned to Calgary in 2007.

Great Hire
Cortez has been excellent everywhere he has gone. He was extremely instrumental in turning Cal around with Jeff Tedford. Actually, I'd prefer Cortez to be the OC. I'm just glad he is involved.

How worse can this get?
I've gave up on my seasons tickets already so I should really have no right to complain any longer, but for Christ's sake would anybody at One Bills Drive be nice enough to at least tell me when Mayflower will be pulling in the moving vans? I'd like to know so I can have a last tailgate party bidding say la vee. I'll even pay $50.00 to park for the event. I envision a giant ammusement theme park being built when the stadium gets taken down. I've had dreams about it for a long time. They always say dreams come true. I believe it.

i look to this upcoming season as a fork in th road.the one way this could go is that ralph is making this team so toxic that we want it to move making it easier to move. or the other way is that the collection of coaches we bring on coupled with the offseason acquisitions and draft could bring about a big suprise or at least turn the ship around. we will just have to wait and see

I can't believe how Bills fans are so down on CFL coaches,that's where Marv Levy came from!!!There are only so many coaching jobs out there and for a guy to last 19 in any of them speaks to his knowledge of the game and ability to communicatewith pro athletes.

Uninformed
Amazing how many uninformed comments have arisen here. Actuall, not that amazing. Cortez was excellent as offensive coordinator at Cal, yes a major college program. He wasn't merely the qb coach. And, wherever he has gone his offenses have been explosive and successful. The only negative you can possibly claim is that his quarterbacks, except Rodgers and Garcia, haven't seen much success. That said, he performed miracles making Boller into a decent college qb, he was absolutely pitiful on the college level before Tedford and Cortez. Before all of you post hereit would be useful if you actually knew anything about the guy. And, again, this IS a great hire (the others besides Dehaven, not so much).
