Orchard Park, NY (WGR 550) -- Jimmy Kennedy played with former Bill Pat Williams in Minnesota last season. Kennedy said in ever city he's played in, they've asked him to learn every position on the defensive line. He has played in both a 4-3 and 3-4 scheme with St.Louis, Jacksonville, Chicago and the Vikings. In 13 games he had three sacks from the inside. If he signs with the Bills, he will want a big opportunity to start. Kennedy said, "If you ask me if I'm satisfied with my career. I still have to represent my family name so I'm trying to go out there and get better. Am I satisfied with what I did last year, no, you guys are impressed with it. Me, I'm just thinking it's just a start. I could tell you everything that I did wrong last year, not the stuff that I did right."
As far as if he would fit in with the Bills Kennedy said, "I'm still working on that. The good thing about it is I have my time jumping around this league. I've played every position that they've ask me to play so it's just about learning the scheme and what they want me to do. I'm impressed with the coaching staff here. Talking with coach Edwards and the D line coach Smith, they seem to have their head on straight and know what they want. Of course they can see me in their plans right now so it's just about me seeing myself in their plans. If I don't feel comfortable and don't think I can be successful, I won't sign here. They are doing a great job of convincing me that I'll fit in here."
He said he's taking one visit at a time. If it doesn't work out here, he'll schedule another visit.
Pat Williams played here many years before Tom Donahoe decided to not sign him and let him play at an All Star level in Minnesota. Kennedy said, "Pat loved this place. I think Pat still has a chip on his shoulder for these guys letting him go. I'm quite sure if he had the opportunity to come back he'll be here. He speaks highly of Buffalo, he loves the fans here. If I come here and his old number (93) is available, I'll consider changing into his number, that is how much respect I have for him."
