When the Buffalo Bills released QB Gibran Hamdan last year, he found work north of the border as the Toronto Argonauts signed him in March. However, it looks as though the signal caller will never throw a pass in the Canadian Football League as Hamdan announced his retirement Friday.
Here is the statement released by the Arognauts:
“First off, I’d like to say the Toronto Argonauts organization has been excellent to me. My short time with the Argos has been a great experience. The Argos are heading in a direction where they need 100% dedication and when I looked in the mirror, I knew I couldn’t deliver that. My heart and dedication would not take this team to a championship and it would not be fair to my teammates, the organization and the fans to continue. I wish the Argonauts every success this season.”
The former Bills QB had also been trying to develop his career as a broadcaster. Hamdan had participated in the NFL’s Broadcasting Boot Camp and hosted his own feature at the team's website last year.
Hamden only threw two passes in his NFL career and completed one for seven yards.
