Forward Tim Kennedy and the Buffalo Sabres had an arbitration hearing Tuesday and are awaiting the decision. Kennedy made $635,000 last season while scoring 10 goals and notched 17 assists . Once the ruling is announced, the Sabres have 48 hours to sign Kennedy or else he will become an unrestricted free agent.
Teammate Patrick Kaleta was also scheduled to go to arbitration earlier this month but chose to sign a two-year deal worth $1.815 million. Stay tuned to WGR - Sports Radio 550 for the latest Sabres news during the offseason.
I dont mind keepin him around as long as it's no more than 1.5 million a year

Nothing wrong with signing tim
Unless the decision is more than $900,000/yr. He is still young and I think shows more promise that Stafford. Now if this coming season he gets the same numbers, then that would be a good reason for him to be moved.

Wake up Regier
If Kennedy's arbitration money is out of Regier range which most likely will be, we won't see Kennnedy in a sabres uniform next year. It is very frustrating to see so many teams improve and sign marqee players and yet we just sit by the wayside and sign basically Leopold and Nidermayer, and none of which will help out on the powerplay. Wake up Darcy. Tyler Myers is only 1 dman and can't do everything himself. Trade Connolly for a decent powerplay D-man. What about getting Savard? Do something other then signing basically journeymen players. Miller and Myers probably won't resign because they can tell that Regier and company are not committed to winning a championship. They run the team the wrong way and that is why we only get players that can't get a contract elsewhere.
07/28/2010 7:19AM
Whatever...
Sorry to say, but he isn't that good anyway. Just another kid from the Buffalo area that get's all hyped up about. Would rather see Ennis or Gerbe up instead of him. Let him go, and buys some real talent for this team.
07/28/2010 7:21AM
Blah blah blah
Let him go...he stinks anyways.
07/28/2010 8:14AM
Cheap Sabres...
Just another indication of how cheap the Sabres are. "Not dedicated to winning"....as Mr. Hasek put it when he left to win a cup in Detroit.
07/28/2010 8:55AM
Frolov
You telling me buffalo could have had this guy for $3. Think they may have missed the boat on him. but, sadly, as much as I root for them, they have not done much to improve on this team from last year. the division is stronger too, so that could meana big difference in where they finish this year. i just thought, for some silly reason, that a bigger signing would take place.
07/28/2010 9:06AM
This Was A Distraction
We can blame this on the two boats missed yesterday by our inept GM.
The SS Frolov and SS Ponikarovsky signings took place leaving the docks while this was going on. Rangers and Kings folks! Low bridge ahead!
Missed opportunities one by one keeps on going, going, and going since July 1st at Sabreland.
FIRE REGIER!!!
(spelled right)
07/28/2010 9:12AM
Trade him
for a dog. A big dog not a midget dog.
07/28/2010 10:39AM
Tiny Tim
Sorry, but this is one guy I hope Regier will let go. But since Marcy will be Marcy, he will predictably match a ridiculous arbitration decision and re-sign Tiny Tim to a multi-million deal.Where's the Fire Quinn and Regier Billboard? Come on WNY... make your voices heard. I have relocated to the NYC area years ago, but still passionately follow our Bills & Sabres and I'm willing to contribute to a worthy cause... FIRE THE TWO CLOWNS!!!
07/28/2010 10:52AM
Frolov/Poni
Get out of here with the Sabres should've signed these guys. They are bums. the Sabres have enough of them on the team already. Get Stempniak in here and find a way to trade for a top line center no matter what it takes as long as it doesn't involve Miller, Myers, Ennis or Vanek. Can you imagine what TV would do on the same line as Spezza??? It would be like Spezza being reunited with the heater all over again. #1 fan has spoken
07/28/2010 11:14AM
Former player and coach says:
they'll sign him for somewhere around one mil per year for two years and see where he goes. He is a great player and good for the team. It's sad to see so many negative comments about such a talented player. We'll see!
07/28/2010 11:25AM
AS GOOD AS IT GETS
ANOTHER FRAGILE PETITE PLAYER THAT THINKS HE IS WORTH MORE MONEY! ON SECOND THOUGHT HE COULD POSSIBLY TURN OUT TO BE AN ALL-STAR IN THE AHL! WE ARE SITTING DUCKS THIS YEAR, WE WILL BE AS GOOD AS THE PANTHERS, ISLANDERS, WHILE WE SIT AND WATCH OTHER TEAMSIN THE EAST IMPROVE WE WILL BE BEHIND THE LEAFS, LIGHTING, AND THE REST OF THE EAST. BUT WE STILL RENEW OUR TICKETS DON'T WE?
07/28/2010 11:26AM
Keep Kennedy
Not sure why anyone would want to get rid of him when you know all Darcy would do if he lets Kennedy go is replace him with another 4th line energy player...
07/28/2010 11:42AM
Wouldn't Be A Loss
Keeping Kaleta and his TEAM CONCEPT and WILLINGNESS to want to stay here means much more to me than Kennedy. When it comes to to value AND deserving money it's Kaleta NOT Kennedy who is more deserving!!
07/28/2010 11:45AM
Wide right?
Frolov &/or Ponikarovsky are both better than most of the forwards on this team & relatively cheap at $3m/season compared to what we are paying Roy, Connoly & Pomminville for their 3rd line quality play! Why is it that WGR does not even want to mention these signings just like the Gagne trade last week? Is Darcy threatening to stop listening? Tim Kennedy is not the answer. Can anyone name a team that has done worse this offseason? Either player signed yesterday would have improved this team but I am sure Darcy will get on this station & try to convince the fans that he tried or that they weren't the right pieces or some other line of crap. Wake up people! Do not support this organization until they respect the fans!
07/28/2010 11:47AM
I have an idea
We should beat Darcy with a hockey stick until he resigns from the Sabres! This would be my dream offseason!
07/28/2010 11:58AM
Sabres Don't Get It
Sabres always worried about signing costs when it doesn't take a genius to figure out people will pay more in tickets for a strong competitive product than the status quo. This is why everyone is passing us....they know!
07/28/2010 12:10PM
too small
kennedy is way too small to make more than 1M. everyone saw how the series against boston changed after he flopped over trying to check recchi, right?
07/28/2010 12:18PM
Frolov ????
Regarding the Frolov blog, you do know the kings fans said he disapears when he doesnt want to play with the team, aka froloaf!
07/28/2010 12:27PM
Whats Taking So Long?
Is this midget related to Kovalchuk somehow? The verdict should have been decided already. Maybe the arbitrator is related to Darcy...Patience.
07/28/2010 12:43PM
Trade in works
There is an insider from Toronto reporting that upon closure of the arbitration financials the Sabres will send Kennedy and a draft pick to Toronto for Kaberle.
07/28/2010 1:44PM
Walk Away and Move On
Put the money towards getting Stempniak and go out and sign Sutton. Very simple. Then work on trading Connolly, Stafford and Sukera. Kaberle?
07/28/2010 2:00PM
Re: Cheap Sabres...
Please elaborate on how this makes the Sabres cheap, I'm curious to hear your reason. I'd like to see if you have the typical down syndrome DNA of most people on this board. Also, good quote to pull from, it's only about ten years oldand in a different ownership period.
07/28/2010 2:23PM
Nice
hope he makes a lot of money-somewhere else
07/28/2010 3:04PM
Ease Up On Timmy
What a great kid. Give him a break, the kid's just trying to do what's right for his career and his family. Hopefully, the Sabres will realize he's worth his salary (probably in the $900K range)...
07/28/2010 3:17PM
RE:Wake up Regier
Well said, could not agree more myself
07/28/2010 5:19PM
Timmy
Put Tim on a decent line and he will give you 20 goals and 30 assissts
07/28/2010 5:21PM
Why bother
The season ticket renewal was ta 98% and the blue and gold club packed tight. If you owned this team would you make changes? The fans of this team are the ones who decided we love the status quo, we will get what we asked for, another season of nothing!
07/28/2010 7:54PM
typical buffalo fans!!
I can't believe the ridiculous comments made about tim kennedy...he was a pretty solid hard working player for most of the year!!! People forget that this kid was asked to play a checking role all year and also out of position and in many games was the hardest worker on the ice!! And this was his FIRST FULL season!!! He should be one of the top five must keep players for this organizations future!!! There are so many bums on this team i can't believe you people want to let a tantented young hard working kid go who wants 900 thousand a year!! When slugs like hecht pominville and stafford are kept here to rot!! the fans in this blog are more of a joke than oakland raiders!!
07/28/2010 10:49PM
Re: Why bother
So true. I myself got sucked in to buying a couple games already. It just sucks because if your're a diehard hockey fan you'll more than likely go to at least one game. I hate myself haha
07/29/2010 2:04AM
Really?
You're all going to complain about Kennedy who made 635K last year and was 9th in points on the team? Really? You're all ok with the wasted money on 19, 21 and 29 (2-4 million each) but ur gonna begrudge this first full year player a fraction of their money? Grow up!
07/29/2010 8:47AM
Re: Trade In The Works
Along with Kennedy and a draft pick for Kaberle, throw in Sekera as well to the Leafs.
07/29/2010 9:30AM
Re: Re: Why bother
Want to trade? Take my seasons tickets I got sucked into renewing them and I'll take your "couple" games. I renewed my seasons tickets believing that joke of a press conference that there will be changes. What changes??? The laziness "no shows" vs. the Bruins in the playoffs are still here. We need a number one center and a powerplay quarterback was stated. Where are they???
I'm just a sheep and got sucked into it like the rest of the 98 percent.
Get rid of this damn management!
07/29/2010 10:42AM
ya know.
kennedy has potential. playing with hecht and grier isn't making it any easier for him to exploit that potential put hime with roy or connolly let him be creative out there. jsut anouthe offensive player turned defensive via Ruff
07/29/2010 10:59AM
Wow
I guess some of you on this web site no less about sports than Schoop, or Jeremy White. Sign Kennedy an watch him get better. He will give us 50 points this year. He will be a steal at 1 mil a year!!!
07/29/2010 1:16PM
Re: ya know
Get rid of Roy and Connolly. Kennedy with LaCavalier sounds better.
07/29/2010 1:26PM
Whats The Holdup?
There should have been a decision already. Jeeze!
Theres other business to take care of before more boats pass on through missed by idiot!
07/31/2010 10:55PM
Cct3stii
just another tweener, Regier just doesn`t grasp how to make this team better guess we all will need tissues after this season starts buffalo fans let this team know their "plan " to make us better sucks where is management( quinn and Golisano) this team is headed toward the basement and Mr White can start the lets not get all upset talks ready the traning camp is right around the corner i hope this team finishes in last im sick on this lackluster management just caring about the bottom line and making a buck SHOW SOME REAL COMMITMENT TO WINNING OR SELL THE TEAM TO SOMEBODY THAT WILL
