Bills' Gailey Won't Discuss Evaluation of DC Edwards
For the second straight season, the Buffalo Bills have not gotten the job done on defense. The team isn't putting pressure on opposing quarterbacks, they're not stopping the run as effectively as they were earlier in the season and the defensive backs are getting torched on a weekly basis.
With all three of those phases playing so poorly, the name of Bills defensive coordinator George Edwards has come under fire from fans and media alike. When asked a few weeks ago whether or not Edwards would be safe, head coach Chan Gailey deflected the question.
This time around, he was asked to evaluate the job that his defensive coordinator has done through nearly two seasons. His response was a non-answer, but a bit more telling.
"This not the time to discuss all of that," Gailey said. "We’re all doing the very best that we can, trying to put guys in position to be successful, everybody, in all three phases, that’s all we’re trying to do is be the best we can and try to win this game and the next one. That’s the goal, that’s the only thought right now."
Gailey continued along with an answer similar to the one received a few weeks prior:
"Hey, everybody’s getting criticism. You lose this many games in a row, we all get criticism. There’s nobody that escapes criticism when you’re doing what we’re doing right now."
The Bills have two more games to go, the first of which against Tim Tebow and the Denver Broncos on Saturday.
