Andre Reed Hints Bills Interest in QB
This is one of those things where you have to take it for what it's worth, and not read too much in to things. There are a lot of variables in the NFL Draft, but something that we suspected was confirmed a little bit.
And who can we thank for it? Why, the creators of Twitter, that's who.
Buffalo Bills' great and wide receiver Andre Reed will be announcing the team's second round pick live at Radio City Music Hall in New York City on Friday, April 29. I can tell you he's very excited about the chance to do so.
Thursday afternoon, Andre Reed raised some eyebrows with a tweet to a certain draft prospect. Florida State QB Christian Ponder.
"@cponder7 Lookin forward to calling your name Draft Day!!!!!!!!!Bills brash like ur style"
Reed deleted the tweet shortly after typing it. So like I said, read in to it what you will. But it's certainly notable of a guy that Chan Gailey tried to recruit to Georgia Tech, a guy that Gailey coached for a week at the Senior Bowl, a guy that the Bills' brass spoke with at the NFL Combine, and a guy that was invited back to team facilities for a pre-draft visit after all those prior meetings.
The interest is there. I'd say that if he's available at 34 and the Bills haven't picked their QB yet, Ponder is the odds-on favorite to be the guy.
Update: After Reed deleted his original tweet, issued a new shout out to Ponder:
"@cponder7 Lookin forward to the possibility of calling your name Draft Day!!!!!!!!!Bills brash like ur style........."
