Bills Beat Blog: July 18, 2011

I hope you all enjoyed the long and beautiful weekend. But with two days passed, there is plenty of Buffalo Bills news to pass along:

John Wawrow of the Associated Press reports a source has told him that training camp at St. John Fisher is zeroing in on opening in two weeks.
- The report says the first practice would be held sometime between July 29 and August 2nd. Having training camp in Rochester has been a success since they've started. The turnouts are always very good, and the liveliness of the crowd at a practice setting is great to see. I think it's very important that they continue their relationship with St. John Fisher College with such an emphasis put on the regionalization of their product. Plus, it's a beautiful campus.

The new A-turf at Ralph Wilson Stadium is really taking shape. They've now completed one of the end zones, and the Bills team website have released the following photograph of the progress:

- It looks like it's just a basic white lettering of the word 'Bills' in the blue end zone. I think it looks very, very sharp.

With a deal in the NFL close, some Bills players are heading back to Buffalo. Monday, First round pick and DL Marcell Dareus is on his way.
- It's getting closer and closer, now we'll just have to wait for the official word from the NFL that a deal has been struck and ratified. It's likely to happen on Thursday. I can't wait to finally put this lockout behind us and just get down to football.

Being a Bills fan is tough, but according to On Numbers, rooting for the Bills is the 10th hardest out of all 122 professional sports franchises in North America.
- The only ones tougher? Washington Nationals, Detroit Lions, Chicago Cubs, Phoenix Coyotes, Cleveland Browns, Cincinnati Bengals, Kansas City Royals, Sacramento Kings and the Pittsburgh Pirates all check in ahead of the Bills.

A lot of people think soon-to-be free agent LB Paul Posluszny and the New York Giants are a perfect fit, but there is another name that could calm the storm writes Kyle Langan of Giants101: Stephen Tulloch.
- Despite his glaring deficiencies on the field, I think it would be a mistake for the Bills to let Posluszny walk. Kelvin Sheppard is intriguing, but needs seasoning before being fully depended on. Besides him, the Bills roster has Andra Davis, Reggie Torbor, Danny Batten and Chris White on the inside of the linebacking unit. I'm not saying they should overpay for him, but I do feel it's important that Posluszny is back.
