Notre Dame quarterback and potential top ten pick Jimmy Clausen had some interesting information to share at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis.
Clausen said he has met with two teams so far. The Washington Redskins, and you guessed it, the Buffalo Bills.
When asked about his meeting with the Bills, Clausen said he spoke with head coach Chan Gailey. With those not familiar with the way the Combine team interviews work, usually it's positional type coaches that meet with the players first. But Gailey indeed met with Clausen according to the Fighting Irish quarterback.
Of the meeting, Clausen said the two of them just sat down and had a fun conversation with Gailey. "You know I've met coach before, he's a great guy. We were in there just talkin' ball and just having a lot of fun. I've met him before, it's good to see him again."
Gailey admitted this week that he doesn't have the find a quarterback to fit his scheme, but will mold a scheme to fit his quarterback. Clausen said this about the subject, "I've obviously been in Coach Weis' system for the past three years. I'm a little familiar with the West Coast system. I don't know what coach's system is going to be with the Bills, but I've played under center for the past three years under Coach Weis."
Clausen fielded a number of questions from the media about his tumultuous career at Notre Dame. Clausen responded saying, "I went to Notre Dame to replicate what it'd be like to lead an NFL team as a rookie." Clausen noted that he's had to overcome much adversity after a sub-par freshman season, saying he's become a better person and player because of it.
The Notre Dame signal caller also is here this week to clear up what he called "Inaccurate perceptions." Some see him as a cocky, arrogant individual that doesn't know how to lead. But to him he's a humble, fun and team oriented person who even let teammates stay at his parents house in California during the off-season.
Clausen is not throwing at the Combine, and is reserving that for his April pro day.
Jimmy Clausen is the QB that would fit not only the Bills but any team looking for a franchise QB that is NFL-ready however..as ready as he may be, the Bills aren't. Drafting a rookie and starting him with the team they have now is setting Clausen or any other rookie QB up for failure

do it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Watch highlights hes the only one who passes the eye test. he looks like a nfl qb in his highlights. the other qbs all throw that wobbly under thrown ball college qbs throw. WE WANT JIMMY!!!!
02/27/2010 3:44PM
DON'T DO IT!!!!!!!!!!

You boys are gullible
Not a leader, not strong enough, can't play in the weather WELL enough. This kid was given the QB job a ND too early never made the most of it, doesn't have one signature win in the college ranks and he is so tough that he wont even throw at the combine. Yeah one picture of this guy talking about "your Bills" and you boys are salivating. The Bills should be talking to this kid right up until draft day for posturing reasons only!!! Remember that 3-4 yeah it needs a little work!!!! Watching the highlights doesn't show you the whole game or his ugly side the kid got to drop back more than anyone of the other top Qb's in this draft and his numbers don't show it. YOU WANT JIMMY not educated fans, we want to stop having the ball run down our throats.

Quest for a QB
Sign M.Vick and we'll be fine !
02/27/2010 4:57PM
NO Way!!
Not ready for the NFL. We need OL and a NOSE Tackle!! Trade down, that is the proper move!
02/27/2010 5:34PM
CHOKES!!!!!
over-hyped all the way. he hasnt won anything worthwhile. constantly choked against great teams and blew it against crappy ones. dont even talk to this loser.
02/27/2010 5:43PM
Yup lets just run the ball.
star Qb's are far and in between, lets just get an all-star front line set up and give the ball to are RB's. were wasting time with QB's every year, besides fred jackson can throw the ball.

doesn't have the stats?
He managed to have a 68% completion percentage with 28 TD's to 4 INT's and a 161 QB rating. Oh and 3722 yds last year. Combined Bills stats: 17 passing TDs (2 by non-qb's), 2515 yds, 19 INT's and that was in 12 games vs the 16 NFLgames... We need a QB and can put points on the board and keep our D off the field the entire game. It doesn't matter how good your D is when they are on the field 40 minutes a game.
02/28/2010 8:20AM
NOOOOOOOOOOO
Please don't take him. He may be a decent prospect, but the Bills aren't good enough yet to take a qb. They have to commit to changing to the 3-4 or building the offense. You can't have both. focus young grasshopper.... focus...
02/28/2010 9:44AM
Jimmies B$%&
Those stats are nice which is nice. A guy by the name of Brady Quinn had numbers pretty similar and he can't rip the starting job from a journeyman like Derek Anderson. All these Qb's coming out have stats like that or better. He's missing a marquee win a big game victory, and muscles and speed and maturity. I get it you love ND give me and everybody else one good reason why he's not one of the top two Qb's drafted because there is a reason. He's not that good. your turn
02/28/2010 3:12PM
Build Up Front
While I feel that the Bills have not had a decent qb since the days of Jim Kelly, the first round pick should be someone who will help the offensive line or be a premier pass-rusher in the 3-4.
02/28/2010 8:11PM
please ,NO!!!!!
please no quarterback from Notre Dame ! way overrated, unless his last name is Montana!
02/28/2010 11:09PM
Don't bother
Washington is going to take Clausen forth.
03/01/2010 2:54AM
no no no
over hyped, over rated, chokes when the game is on the line,if he were comming out of wyoming instead of the over hype machine called notre dame he wouldnt get looked at till the late 2nd or 3rd round..he will be a flop.JUST SAY NO BUDDY!
03/01/2010 7:55AM
Draft a QB
28 TD's 4 Int's on a team that had NO Defense in cold weather in a pro style offense. What more do you want if he has an avg def at best they are in a big time bowl game. If you really think that you would rather have Vick than your an idiot! Remeber before Vick's troubles J.P. Losman had a better QB Rating. VICK = LOSER & PIECE OF GARBAGE!
03/01/2010 8:36AM
7 Wins
If he can get us 7 wins it's an improvement. Stop shooting for the stars, even Clausen will give fans hope... even if it's just a little, I know the most excitement fans had around here was "hope" for a new coach. He gats drafted and fans start hoping he's the future Kelly. That hope will sell tickets. But everyone out there thinking there's a quick fix, forget it, let's try to start winning a few more than 6 games and go from there.
03/01/2010 8:37AM
QB
A quarterback, especially a rookie quarterback does not make a team good. But at least it would give us some hope that in a few years the Bills will be winners.
03/01/2010 10:09AM
7 wins????
Your kidding right. The worst case scenario is another 7 win season. Not bad enough to draft in the top 5 and not good enough to hope for crap the next year. This is why we watch an NFL team so we can shoot for the stars like every other team yet we are the only one who doesn't go to the playoffs!! 7 wins is worthless
03/01/2010 11:44PM
R U Worthy
Tebow is he one. Onc chance Bills fans, don't blow it.
03/01/2010 11:47PM
R U Worthy
Tebow is the answer.
03/02/2010 6:36AM
ha ha 7 wins ha ha!
this team will be lucky to win 3 games this year!!!! pass on qb this year, let brian brohm play, then next year draft ryan mallot the gun slinger out of arkansas
03/02/2010 11:54AM
Tim Tebow
Tebow as the savior? He has not even established the correct throwing mechanics at the current moment. Why would you draft a guy who is learning how to properly throw the ball as your QUARTERBACK?
03/02/2010 6:08PM
Yes Clauson! Superbowl Bound!
... haha just kidding. I like this heading it's like a big deal or something.
