Bills cut 21 players, place Sanders on I-R



Orchard Park, NY (WGR 550)  -- The Buffalo Bills are officially down to 53 players on their active roster.

With 38 minutes to spare before the deadline, the Bills have released 21 players and placed one man on the injured reserve.

The team announced they have cut the following: DT Dwan Edwards, WR Marcus Easley, LB Tank Carder, WR Naaman Roosevelt, WR Derek Hagan, DE/DT Jarron Gilbert, DT Kellen Heard, WR Ruvell Martin, OL Mark Asper, DE Robert Eddins, LB Scott McKillop, HB Johnny White, OL Keith Williams, WR Kamar Aiken, TE Kevin Brock, HB Zach Brown, OL James Carmon, CB Isaiah Green, S Nick Saenz, OL David Snow and P Shawn Powell.

That put the Bills at 54 players, and to get themselves down to the 53-man limit, the team announced rookie offensive tackle Zebrie Sanders has been placed on I-R.

With the cuts, some of the notable bubble players that made the roster are: QB Tyler Thigpen, HB Tashard Choice, FB/TE Dorin Dickerson, OL Sam Young, OL Colin Brown, DT Alex Carrington, LB Kirk Morrison, LB Chris White, S Delano Howell and K John Potter.

The Bills will resume practice on Saturday as they prepare for their first regular season game against the New York Jets on Sunday, September 9.
